Error Code 018-5016?

it seems that i am unable to visit faraway towns using the internet... the town name shows up and i can select it, but after i try to actually visit, an error pops up. the error code is 018-5016 and it reads "unable to connect to partner's device." i've searched online for how to fix this but i found nothing... have any of you ever had this problem before? if you have, how did you fix it? i'd really like to visit online towns.

oh yeah, i forgot to mention; the dream suite works just fine. i can visit dream towns and update my dream town. it's just visiting online towns.

This happens to me too on my home Wi-Fi (I'm not at home right now)

You have strict internet settings, or a firewall is blocking the connection. Something like that, anyway. I've read that you need to manually enter in your internet's ip address and other settings, through the settings on your DS.

This website will tell you what to do, but it's still very complicated. Hope this helps.

I have this problem too, so I can't wifi with people anymore. I have no idea how to fix it.
