EA (Electronic Arts)

Everytime I think of EA, I think of how I use to say "well they ruined everything else they make but they can still do The Sims right"
Then a year later. oops. *falls down the stairs into some spikes*

Oh great. Sim City is dead for good then. It will never be revived properly again.

EA will still be making the games but they closed the studio. The title is a little misleading for some it seems.

To be fair, the 'Sim City' guys could just make a new company and continue with a 'spiritual successor' to Sim City.
Saying that, were any of the people from the older Sim Cities even still working at Maxis anyway?

I dunno, whilst I do like specific studios, the developers move around quite a lot.
Look at Rare. The guys who made all the good games left and went elsewhere pretty much after Microsoft bought them. Rare hasn't been Rare for a long time so if they closed down, nothing of worth would really be lost.

well plenty of people associate said game with the studio who made it not necessarily the developers behind it. for example, people associate final fantasy with square enix but not with hironobu sakaguchi (the developer responsible for the franchise who left square enix in like 2004) or they associate megaman with capcom but not keiji inafune (the developer who created the character and then left capcom) coincidentally these guys leaving their respective franchises is what resulted in them faling to complete s**t. i think thats what some people see here with maxis being shut down; they basically see it as EA killing the simcity franchise even though will wright (the main guy behind simcity) left a long time before this. what 'kills' a franchise really is the main creator/developer behind it leaving/retiring without teaching the remaining developers to carry on without them (as was the case with final fantasy and megaman) or the company being bought out by another company (as was the case with simcity and rares ips). sure it technically still continues but once one or both of the things i just listed happens, the franchise in question is NEVER the same.

I hate EA for ruining the sims which was a big part of my childhood, if only they would fix it but I feel like they really don't care about the consumers...
