Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, is this locked off a US 3DS? I was planning on trying to find a European copy, since DS games aren't always region locked on a 3DS. I've been playing Ganbare Goemon: Tōkai Dōchū Ōedo Tengu ri Kaeshi no Maki which is a DS Japan only game and it works fine, came out in 2005 and has no weird camera or other newer DS functions involved in it. From what I gather All DSi-enhanced and 3DS games are region-locked and a DSi-enhanced DS game is one that uses features such as the camera.

tl;dr does EU Tingle DS work on NA 3DS? I don't think there's any weird things in there that should bar it from working but maybe there are camera actions or otherwise weird games that may not allow it to work

It's only Japan to NA?

Literally I ask because I don't see ANYTHING related to this anywhere. EU to NA = ????
That's boo :(

I guess I can get a Japanese Tingle game if that works still. But how weird if EU ≠ NA

DS games are not region locked but DSi games like Pok?mon Black/White are (they have DSi features like the camera). ANY DS game works on ANY 3DS.

Tingle is not a DSi game. So yes, it would work.

Edit: Well I have never heard that before, that EU => NA doesn't work. NA => EU certainly works. And why on earth shouldn't it?

I kind of figured this to be the case. DS works with 3DS. DSi = the problem. Especially if NA => EU then EU <= NA should work. It also wouldn't make sense to block out Europe but allow Japan. I only questioned it because how rarely I see European DS games, and no one seems to even ask about it, everyone just wants to know NA/EU = JP

System Flaw for DSi

That's ironic. Also thanks for posting the links, especially the first one has a nice list on it.

Weird, how can you tell if a game is dsi or not? That might be why my dragonquest 9 doesn't work with my 3ds.

DSi games or games that use DSi features are a black cartridge. Normal DS games are a grey cartridge.

Also if you've got a DSi only game the box says DSi Only on it. They're blatantly different from a DS game box, they're like a cross between 3DS & DS!
