I've seen in a few places people suggesting to TT using the DS clock instead of Isabelle, but why? Nobody ever mentioned the reasoning behind this...

I'm looking to start TTing a couple people out to make room for the dreamies I have on reserve but now I'm questioning my methods...

And just to confirm- going backwards no matter how long counts as just one day, right? I also had someone tell me that if you TT back to a day that a villager asked to move, they'll try to move again on that day... anyone else experience this? Maybe it has designated moving days?

Thanks in advance <3

The advantage of using the system clock is it allows you to change the date without having to first load up your town. The only time this comes into play is when you need to check something using the reset trick, such as adopting a villager then advancing a day to randomize their plot location. For general time travel shenanigans the in-game clock is faster.

Going backwards counts as zero days. The day you land on is treated as if it was the same as the day you left. However, there is inconsistent behavior in some areas here - namely that backwards travel will spawn an incoming villager's plot as if a new day had begun.

And to my knowledge, backwards travel will not prompt a villager to move again.

Going back definitely counts as one day in game time; except that anything that requires time to advance will *normally* not happen. Hybrids will not breed, Nook construction will not happen, Cyrus will not refurb. But if a villager is moving out it will count as a day in their schedule.

For example, if they are moving in two days, backwards jump=one day, one day forward=one day and they're packing; if they are in boxes, they will be gone; and crucially, if they are moving the next day and you do not know, when you jump backwards they will be in boxes.

Also, tting backwards will reset everything that is determined by the day (turnip prices, moving villagers, merchandise in shops) but things that are determined by the week (Saharah, Redd, etc) will re-occur if you have not crossed the Sunday 6am marker.

Thank you both very much <3 I feel like I know a lot more now and I feel much better |D

Also Arrei I love your signature 8D Prinnies ftw Dood!

This is why I mentioned behavior is inconsistent. Some things advance, but because some key daily aspects do not change - villagers you talked to before jumping backwards will greet you as if it was the same day, wilting flowers will not die if you hadn't watered them yet, new fossils, flowers, and weeds will not spawn - I believe it's still the same day, just some timers will have advanced while others did not for some reason.
