Dream Address: Why does it get changed?

In my old town the dream address sometimes got changed, but I don't know why. I just wanted do update my town and then Luna told me that I got a new dream address.
Does anyone know why dream addresses sometimes get changed?

I am wondering this too. It's neat to visit an old version of your town, but I wish I knew why we are given new ones sometimes...

Your dream town gets registered on a Nintendo server. All your town data is copied here which makes it able for players to visit while you are offline. If no one visited it in a while or if you don't upgrade it frequently (I believe 10 or 14 days for both) it will be removed from their server.

Eeeeh. It gets removed if nobody visits it O_O
I only had 15 visits in 6 months xD

Even when you get a new code, your old code should still be good for awhile. Mine changed around the beginning of October and I was still able to visit the old one just the other day. All the new code means is that any updates you do will go to the new dream code, and your old one will be stuck in its state indefinitely. It's neat in a way though, because it enables you to visit your own town when your code changes, while before that happens you cannot.
