I wanted to give Dota 2 a try really bad because I believe it's good but I just find the characters really unappealing for some reason and I heard the community is even more toxic than in LoL.

i mean the character design is more serious, its not a bunch of big titty females in clowny skins. wouldnt say the community is more toxic, given the average age of league players is lower

Although I cannot express how much I hate skimpy designs in videogames, not being half naked with big breasts doesn't make a character design necessarily good or interesting. Also their names are kind of funny, "templar assassin", although I can't say that lol names are much better lmao!
About the average age, I'd say you're right. LoL is mostly 12yo's.

I guess downloading the game and trying it out for myself instead of judging it from afar wouldn't hurt, though.

dota heroes have both a name and a title, but it's inconsistent which one is officially used. the lore is also much more developed, especially since riot destroyed the whole league of legends and is rewriting their lore

Yeah, I agree. Riot doesn't really care about the lore from what I've seen. I'll give it a try although I don't have much time now!

the game is also completely free to play, u dont have to unlock any characters, there are no runes or masteries so everyone starts a game at the exact same level with the only thing differentiating them being their skill. oh and theres no region locking. u can play with ur friend who lives on the other side of the world, and play on a server in the middle so that the ping isnt too bad for either of u.
