I realized recently that how much I like a villager has a lot to do with how much I like the sound of the "town tune" jingle that plays when I talk to them.
As cute as Gayle is, I really hate her sound and I think it makes it hard for me to like her!
Alternatively, I didn't think I was going to like Ed much, but his jingle sounds so nice and I think I'm getting attached.

I don't know much about the jingle sounds. Are they based on species? Or are they unique for each villager?
Somebody smarter than me please inform!

While some of them mess the town tune up pretty bad, it really doesn’t affect how I feel about a villager. I am pretty sure every villager has different tunes but similar tones based on species but don’t quote me lol

Yes, they are based on species. I think the elephants are trumpets and the wolves are percussion. It doesn’t influence my opinion one way or the other. I barely notice it. But, I do remember one species being flute and it’s pretty funny. Oh, I think it’s birds. It makes them feel like gentle creatures, then you see Jitters‘ goofy jock face.

Ahh, I noticed this about myself too recently. I had to let Tia go because I wasn't too fond of the tune she makes when I talk to her. Now I got my dreamie Lily who I absolutely adore in terms of her design. Then I hear her tune and I am in despair lolol. Why?!?! Why is she given that tune. Now I am unsure if I want to keep her 😭 Is there a guide to the tunes that villagers have? I know there is a house guide because some people care about how a villager's house look...but what about for those of us who cares about how their tune sounds lol >_<;;

So I noticed that my two wolves, Dobie and Audie, have the same instrumental sound, but the notes are played differently!
Audie's is a bouncier sound, more emphasized on the upbeat I guess? and Dobie's is very straight forward.

Not really, but then I guess I haven't come across a truly awful-sounding one yet. Clay's and Sprinkle's do use the wrong notes in some places, which makes my tune sound different, but not bad. I guess if you made your town tune a specific theme (I just made mine up lol) it would be much more annoying...

Some of the jingles are cute to hear. Some are just WAHT!? like the elephants. But it's cool because they're all unique... I think? Adds to the personality. I also like it when the melody is flat or sharp. XD

I‘ve got four wolves, but I haven’t paid attention in a long time. I’ll listen for how Audie’s sounds later.

it never has aha - my feelings toward a villager pretty much are just based on their appearance and the connection i have with them ;;

My friend has Gayle and the jurrasic park theme as her town tune, tbh Gayle makes the town tune sound amazing! So I actually think some tunes are improved by the villager

More often than not when I play Animal Crossing, or most games, I have the sound either low or off entirely and will be listening to something else, like music, a podcast or a YouTube video. As such, no, this has no bearing on what I think of a villager. My main concern is character designs. It would probably be a nice bonus if a villager's jingle made the town tune sound cool, but it wouldn't sway me one way or the other.

My tune is Jurassic Park. Most of the villagers make it sound nice. All 3 normals are similar. But Drago... ugh just no. I love Drago but he totally destroys it. It just sounds so bad

I only noticed it when speaking to elephant villagers, but it's not something that bothers me :) I also have Gayle, and I like her tune!

I also only notice it the most when speaking to elephant villagers. Sometimes it's annoying because it's loud and obnoxious lol but I get over it quickly.

Then again I also rushed to kick my two elephant villagers out for some reason...

I've started to play with the volume off, so I don't hear them that often anymore in general. However, when I met Cranston on a Mystery Island, I felt so intrigued by what he did to the old melody that I invited him.
For me, it's a minor thing that only affects my gameplay when I didn't aim at a specific villager in advance, but it annoys me a lot that almost all of my villagers play Space Oddity incorrectly. It's hard to convert songs in the first place, so please, have mercy with me...
