• Good evening, everyone! We have an egg hunt announcement! An additional clue for egg #21 will be posted Monday at 6 PM EDT if it hasn't been found by then. The egg hunt will also be extended until Tuesday morning at 10 AM EDT.

Does it bother anyone else?

It doesn't bother me because I stay out of that forum. I think part of the fun of having dreamies is getting them on your own, either via the campsite or from pure luck if they move in. I really hope Maple moves into my town one day but if she doesn't, she's doesn't. I don't want someone else to sell (or even give) her to me. *shrugs*

I don't know... It's one thing to buy hybrids, clothes and furniture, but villagers? Doesn't getting your dreamies quickly from other people take away some of the excitement?

I agree with you halfway on this one. I agree it's more fun when they're a random move in. But I also like to adopt unwanted villagers from VTF to give them a good home. Currently my town has 2 Tier 5 villagers (Beardo and Vladimir) that I know off. Possibly more. I got them both from the campsite, but I've adopted Tammy (who I can't remember what Tier she is off the top of my head) and I love that she tells me stories of her old town. The chances she'll get adopted from me are quite slim which is sad :(

There really should be a sub-forum, as no one uses the stickied thread to find homes for villagers.

I try to check at least the last day's worth of posts in the Looking For sticky, & if someone is looking for who I have I'll shoot them a PM. It's a matter of good timing with that method, sometimes people don't respond or they got the villager & didn't edit the posting or they don't get online before I have to void or find another person.

When I cycled I used to check the sticky often to see if anybody was look for my villagers. Unfortunately like somebody else said in here, it all mostly comes down to timing. A lot of times people don't want to hold on to a villager for hours or even days. My style of playing (though I really don't anymore) involved a lot of tting and doing things on my own so if I had to hold onto a villager for too long it kinda put a pause in whatever else I wanted to do.

As for my previous points, I still stand by them. Like I said, if you choose to give away a villager that's one thing but nobody should be made to feel bad or obligated to give things away for free. As has been stated previously people do things for different reasons. In the past, I have given away villagers or discounted them as well as having voided them. I actually would try giving them away on reddit if no interest was shown on tbt. A lot of people do buy and resell though so you should keep that in mind when you do giveaways, bc just like you said you feel good that you can make other people happy, but at the same time you'll feel the opposite when you think you've done a nice thing but a person turns around and sells the villager 1 hour later.

Idk but I wouldn't really care if someone sold the villager I gave them :/ That's just me, though. Because even if that happened, I'd still be making someone else happy by extension. lol Plus it's just game. Most things people get worked up about don't bother me. Like I said, that's just me.

Good point. When people say things like "if you take this villager you can't ever get rid of them" it strikes me as a bit odd. What if I get that villager and find out that I don't like them anymore? It's my game and once the villager is mine then surely it's mine to do with as I please.

I think people forget that making billions of bells is not the point of the game.

That may not be one of your priorities, but it's certainly one of mine. I try to build a small fortune so that I don't have to rely on the kindness of strangers to do anything. I have roughly 175 million bells in my main town, so when I want to buy a villager or start a second town or buy rare items, I don't have to wait for a rock bottom sale or wait for free stuff.

I hate it too. Can't you give it to them, and then they can pay you when they do have the money?

That requires a level of trust that most people just don't have. I've heard too many horror stories about people being scammed to ever trust someone to pay me later.

That is how a gift is supposed to work. Once it's yours, you're allowed to do whatever you want with it. And if you buy something, then it's definitely no one else's business what you do.

I agree but I also disagree. It could become a thing where people might take advantage of you, knowing they don't have to pay the price ever if no one offers and they'll just get the villager for free, and y'know, that would suck. I'm 50% with you and also 50% elsewhere.

I also check the looking for stickied thread for people who might be searching for the villager because I realllly do HATE voiding lol It's so awesome when you get a reply of someone who is excited because you have their dreamy and they aren't going to break their bank. I also agree with the sub forum idea!!

I understand why people would do that, but it's kind of unfair. Like you said, not everyone can spend that kind of money. If it were me, I would wait to see if anyone else would take them first, but give them to that person if no one else offered. Or as someone else said, just let them pay what they can afford. I used to sell villagers but now I feel bad for doing it considering people can't afford them yet the villager is their dreamy.

I know what you mean! You are not alone in this way of thinking~ I don't know much about the animal crossing cycling but I would do the same, give a villager for free even though there isn't enough ''money'' to be given to me. Having something be a waste is pretty bad and the fact that there's someone that can use it or they really want it, that's a good way to make something not become a wastee
