Does anyone else here love ska?

I've meant to explore the genre but don't know of any artists/bands. Recommendations?

I started with Madness, The Selecter, and The Specials. But if you enjoy punk you should start with Fishbone, Less than Jake, and Reel Big Fish. I always start out with their earliest albums as some ska bands switch genres after one album.

Enjoying a 4 day weekend. (Hookie from work tomorrow). I just got the real pressing of Heads Will Roll from the Hippos a few weeks ago. Got it set up on the Bose Woofer. Wooooo

I listened to ska way too much in the late 80's and 90's. You mentioned a bunch of great bands!

My all time favorite is The Toasters! A couple of other bands, that haven't already been mentioned, are Skankin' Pickle, and Let's Go Bowling.

To add to your punk ska band suggestions, I would like to emphasize Operation Ivy, and Common Rider as bands to maybe check out sometime

I love the Toasters sooo much!!! I should've added Operation Ivy and Goldfinger 😞

Do you have a favorite Toasters album? Or song? There are so many!
It's genuinely difficult to pinpoint a favorite when I'm so early in the band but I have been replaying Skaboom a bunch. Specifically Renee and Now or Never cuz they sound so similar to me lol :3

Skaboom would be my third favorite! Great album! Dub 56 is the album that really hooked me, and New York Fever is my favorite! Although its hard to go wrong with anything they put out!

I saw them live in a tiny venue, and they were awesome! Bucket Hingley is "the band" and the rest of the musicians revolve in an out, but they are always amazing!

Bucket was selling his own merchandise and cussed me out for being a "polite Berkeley person" and I smiled and said thank you for the merch. I kind of wish I would have given him the finger after the purchase, because I think he would have loved that 😆
