Do you think we’ll ever get 360 views of our islands?

Like how we can do a complete circle pan inside player and villager houses to see everything but can’t do it in any other buildings or outside... do you think they’d ever add this? Getting to swim around our island and uncover new ways of looking at our islands makes me super thirsty for more viewing options on land too!

I don't think so... that seems like it'd require big changes in how the game is designed.

The houses for one would look all wrong from the back and sides.

It would be cool but it's really unlikely, I don't think they had this in mind for NH. Maybe in a future game.

ehhhhh... probably not.
i do sometimes imagine how cool my island would look if i could see it from a different angle tho

also no ham to you but i legit thought that the post name meant how many people would ever see out islands and i was like wut

So with 3D models, artist's will delete surfaces not visible to the player in order to save space (we call them faces).

So the buildings might not have a back face. Or like the tide rocks. There also could be stretching which is done a lot in games.

Highly doubt this, especially with how the game is designed. And I guess they will stick with how the view is and was, at least I can't imagine them ever making an AC title with 360 view for the island itself if I'm gonna be honest here (then again, never say never, so who knows).

I think there was a video done by Shesez on YouTube specifically about this. It showed that the houses were fully modeled but not textured, and the roofs on some of the houses didn't match up properly to the actual houses.

No -- for the reasons people have said above. Not all faces of the 3D objects are rendered so it wouldn't be possible with the game how it is in it's current form.

There's a show i sometimes watch on youtube called Boundary Break by Shesez who recently did an episode about this! I'll link it here, they basically take an out of bounds camera to show you aspects of games you wouldn't normally see. When they take the camera behind buildings you can see that the models aren't complete at the sides you are unable to see. :lemon:

Interesting! Can you share a link?
Edit: Oh, sorry, I see someone shared it right after you posted

I thought you meant will 360 people dream about our islands. In my case, noooo.

That would be such an awesome addition, but it's probably on the list of things that will never be added. Heck, we don't even have an upgraded shop yet lol!

Definitely won't happen for New Horizons. That's A LOT of work to just put as an update. Everything would have to be changed. Buildings would have to be remodeled. Perhaps in the future, an AC title would implement that, but it's unrealistic to think it will happen for New Horizons.

It might probably never happen. There was a video I watched a while back where someone was using 360 camera control outdoors and apparently, trees and bushes aren't fully modeled at the back. Moreover, some houses look weird when you view it from a certain angle so yeah, I guess that idea is thrown out of the window.

I doubt it. Out of all the things currently missing or features that would be most desired, I can't really see that happening over the many others. It would be neat though surely.

I doubt it, the 3D models will look strange if you actually do a 360 in the game.
And it could take a while to implement as well.

It's a tube world. Most structures and scenery have no backs or are flat. Check out Out of Bounds on this matter. He did an amazing job showing the build of the world.
