I feel more inclined to reset in this version of the game since Resetti is optional.

I don't reset unless an accident happens (I run over one of my hybrids and destroy it), but I do use it as a means to turn off the game quickly if I haven't done anything important (just wanted to show one of my patterns to my husband or check turnip prices, for instance).

Back in the Gamecube days, I only resetted for emergencies since it didn't want to be screamed at by Resetti XD But I remember the one time I had no choice. I was innocently talking to my villagers when Opal, who felt particularly vicious this morning, said something to me.

"Hey Summer, [random nonsense], for whatever reason, you will give me all of your money." WHAT?

And my player did as she wanted, without any objection. I was mortified, I had all my savings on me. That's when I learned that I should keep my bells locked away in my basement. I also learned that snooty characters can be monsters (that's not the case anymore, thankfully).

How about you? :)

Do you reset to avoid mistakes, or do you religiously save & quit before leaving? Have you ever accidently powered down the game and lost progress (happened to me quite a few times with my old 3DS, the Power button was awkwardly placed). What's your opinion on resetting?

I don't know what it is with that game, but for whatever reason I (as you call it) "religiously save & quit" everytime, even if I haven't done anything productive. :D Very seldomly I try something out without saving, just to see if it works. Like yesterday, for example, it was Bunny's birthday and I just wanted to see if I could gift her a pic of another villager. But, since I didn't really want to give that pic away, I just turned the game off and endured Resetti's sermon. :D

By the way, gifting that pic worked out fine - but now I'm curious to see if she'd have actually displayed that pic in her room... :D

yea i reset all the time lmao. i have to because im always time traveling so i have to check by making a new character and reset with them if something bad happened like every morning

Let me know if you ever test it again, that's a great idea! I always thought my Freya had a crush on Wolfgang (though she would never admit it) I could give her a picture of him and see what she does with it :P

So did you actually build the Reset center or was it your first time resetting?

I actually love his sermons, I always made sure to Reset enough times to hear them all back in the days XD But his brother is so much nicer...

Ah yes, the villager / plot reset trick. I do it all the times as well, I didn't exactly count it as resetting though, but you're right :) It takes a while though, I can't believe Nook doesn't realise that every day or so, so someone with the same name walks into his shop and demands to have a house built in the exact same spot >.>

I've built the reset centre, and I visit them when it's open. I think Resetti isn't all that bad - that one time, he was singing a song to himself when I went down there. He was quite embarrassed when he noticed me, though... :D

yeah, when he is actually IN the center he isnt too bad, he actually is adorable and lets his true self shine... he isnt this old jack*** that always yells at youngsters to stop resetting... he is a happy man and he loves to be with his bro, none of the less whichever side you see of him

Funny you'd say that, it just happened to me literally one hour ago. I went a bit too much on the formal side... I almost had the reflex of resetting, but then I decided to just look online for something that didn't look too horrible.

Luckily I haven't built the Reset Center yet, so I just get a few words from Isabelle, who is much nicer!

I never used to reset, just suck it up if I make a mistake. And I don't usually test stuff out in the game for myself (grateful to those that do & use what they find out).

Changed my mind when I got a new villager move right in front of my main bridge between dock & R-Tail. I now plot reset for new villagers.

But reset if I make a mistake ingame? - well I would if it was disastrous, but minor things such as selling a silver tool, running over a hybrid (I've done both), no. Not worth losing progress.

Edit: - yes I've hit the power button on the old 3ds XL twice & would have happened more if I hadn't caught myself in time.
Once lost 3 hours of play. Not sure why I have a problem with the old 3dsXL this way. I have a new 3dsxl & its start button is near to where the power button is on the older version, maybe that is it. I really have to focus when I save & turn off as I'm often very tired at that point.

I usually only reset if I make mistakes like getting the wrong colour hair, or selling something important or valuable. I usually save before I do these things though, since I know I'm clumsy and will probably make a mistake :P
