I love "Habla con Ella," "Volver," "Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios," and "Dark Habits.'

Almodovar's films have garnered much attention for having what some would call gender-bending themes, and for focusing on feminine characters.

But i love his movies because of the dialogue; the characters' observations are common, cynical, and wry, yet they never devolve into banality. they make me want to move to Spain.

finally, here is my favorite supporting actress from his movies, she cracked me up so much, God rest her soul:

where's Moko when you need her???

I can't believe I never got into any of his films but Moko recommends Pepi, Luci, Bom so I'm going to watch that one first!

i haven't seen any Almodovar movies ;_; which one's a good one to start with?

the first one I ever saw was "Volver," starring Penelope Cruz. I think that's as good as place to start as any.

Moko may have a recommendation based on her academic studies of his body of work though. Moko??

I havent seen Pepi, Luci, Bom; or Alaska, i'm eager to get back to watching these.

Alaska is a famous punk singer lol she's in that film :P

I'd still go with Pepi, Luci, Bom cause it's the first thing he did for cinema and obviously the most free-spirited haha c:

@king dad.. aqui aqui *waves with tiny flag*

Oh btw I love that image in your first post, she's awesome omfg XD

OMG, i just realized that she only died two weeks ago-- I thought she had passed a couple years before now!

She needs a tribute!

her characters were always one of my favorite things about Almodavar's films; her lines, the streetwise little old lady, i loved her!

her IMDb page:

Chus Lampreave

i found this pic from one of her roles in her youth:

I've seen All About My Mother, Bad Education, and Law of Desire. I was particularly into All About My Mother out of those.

I want to go further into his filmography, especially The Skin I Live In soon.
