Do you give your villagers rare items for their homes?

Do you give your villagers rare items as gifts for their homes? Or do you give them cheap things and not really worry about their decorations?
Lately I?ve been collecting rare items to put in my villager?s homes so they will look nicer. Mostly fortune cookie items or RV items. It bothers me when the items in their homes are all mismatched!

I usually give them whatever I have in my pockets at the time

Yes! I try to give them the best items to go with their home. I customized cabin furniture for Maple and it looked so beautiful in her home!

I think I did this once or twice. Once I gave a villager a lily lamp. Usually I don't like giving them like fish or fossils since it ruins their homes.

Really it depends. If they’re home has already been totally mismatched due to them decorating with random things from who even knows where, then I really don’t care and just let them do whatever they want. If they still have some kind of theming going on when they ask I try to give them something that fits. Honestly I hate it when their homes are all over the place but some of them are too far gone for me to save...

Yes, I will give them rare and/or customized furniture if I think it will look nice in their home. I really messed up a couple of my early villager's homes to the point where I hated to even walk in their house because it looked so bad. So I started being more careful with what I give them and now I think most of their houses are pretty nice. Mint asked for some new furniture recently so I ran up to Gracie's store and bought her a Gracie chest to replace the one she got rid of a long time ago. So yeah, I don't mind giving them rare and expensive furniture if it's something I want them to have.

That's maybe I bother the most. I spend good amount of time for it - about what furniture I'm gonna give them.
I do visit and research how their room looks like whenever I can, ponder hours and hours what item and in what refurbish option (if it has this option) would suit the best.
In the first place, before that, I start deeply thinking about desired final outcome of their rooms, when I get a new villager..

i really just give em whatever i have on hand. but i do remember bunnie asked for any ocean fish and i gave her a whale shark and she was so shocked i went through that "length" lol

do they typically make a different dialogue if its a rare/expensive item? i wonder!

I'm very picky about what I give them. I've gone so far as customizing furniture to go with their decor and giving them Gracie furniture. They also only get fish or bugs if they're ones I deem cute enough to be a pet lol.

I do the same thing, I felt bad about carelessly giving one villager a random item because it made their house look ugly! I think a lot more carefully about it now, sometimes even giving away rarer items because I do care about it more

See sometimes I do this too! If their house has a certain look I go through all my stuff and find the perfect item for their room. If they already have mismatched stuff I kinda care less, but I Sometimes spend hours finding the perfect item and I wonder if I?m being too OCD about it. But I feel better about myself when I actually give them a nice item. Like I?m actually a good friend.

I wondered that too because I?ve seen the shock in them when I give them a rarer item like that, it made me feel appreciated

I have a section in my dresser of my favorite bugs and fish that I give away to villagers when they ask, I won?t catch anything random. Orchid mantis?, goldfish, seahorse, sharks, other nice ones. I customize furniture before I give it to them sometimes too if I think a certain color will look better, even done it using gold ores

Mint gave me her picture as a reward after I gave her the Gracie furniture, so I think they do recognize that the item is 'special' and it might up your friendship levels more.

When I first started, no. But now that I pretty much have everything and extras, yes. Especially for RVs since I don't really need anything from them but rather can just order things to gift villagers.

Sometimes yeah! If I think it fits the style of their house I'll gladly offer it to them.
I don't care wether they're rare or not, if it's pretty and fits, I give it to my little babs.

I try and give them items I think they'd like, based off their personality, character type and house.

Lol. I am crazy when it comes to this. I too have a storage secontion just for villager items and i have seahorses, sea butterlies, and goldfish for ocean/river fish requests. I also have a notebook for my animal crossing endeavors where i have each of my villagers’ houses mapped out and plans for which items need to be replaced, and with what. My favorite so far is Freya’s labrador ornament on her table, and I want to give ruby the zodiac rabbit, but I need to wait for her to request to replace a specific item in her home because I’ve gotten REALLY lucky with her furniture placement so far and I dont want to mess it up haha.

If it's a villager I plan on keeping, totally. Marshall and Apollo get the best stuff, while villagers like Al get whatever (if I even give him any lol)

Only certain ones! All the villagers I knew I'd cycle out I just gave them whatever I didn't want. But now my towns full of dreamies (+ Moe I guess, 'cause I forgot about the thing where you visit someone's town and get their "void" characters.) So I've been trying to match with what they have already at least. Finally got Ankha to get rid of that lovely chair I let her buy at re-tail and am trying really hard to get her to take this statue.
Also gave Zucker the sushi container and it looks lovely in his house!
I like to give them gyroids that color match the rest of their house a lot too
I care more about their clothes though. Zucker has been wearing this ... Interesting grape stripe shirt for forEVER and I keep sending him the flan tank trying to get him to change it (even reported his clothes to Isabelle but I guess that only works for if it's a custom design from able sisters?) Same with pretty much all of the villagers. My town is doomed with bad fashion sense I guess
