Do you feel bad about having popular villagers?

I'll be honest, sometimes I feel a bit bad for it! A good friend of mine and I talked

Not that I don't appreciate other unpopular or "ugly" villagers! Elvis has been my ride-or-die since Wild World (not that he's even ugly! he's so posh and cool)

I guess I'm starting to feel a bit cliché ! i just added Sherb to my island (the perfect ig shots of him finally got to me)!

So now my villagers are: Audie, Buck (i love his eyebrows), Elvis, Fang, Marshall, Merengue, Raymond (was curious about all the hype, but if he asks to leave, I'll let him), Sherb, and Skye!

I have Freya's card so i'm thinking about adding her but I'm worried my town is too cliche or boring! And now i wondering who I should add instead!

I never really care whether a villager I have is popular or not. I just try to enjoy them for who they are. I have never had any of the new ones though, and I never really go island hopping, so... I dunno if I would feel bad or not for having a popular villager. Almost all of the villagers I have I got from Amiibo.

I don't personally. I have a good few popular villagers in the form of Lucky, Pecan, Coco, Ruby, and Zell. But that's just because I like them best. I think it's a matter of what you want for designs ultimately. Because I also have Rasher, Raddle, and Rodeo.

Other people will only see your island for a small portion of time so you have to be happy with your villagers. I even tried out Raymond & Judy to see what the hype was about. Just have fun

It turns out I like some popular characters such a Fauna and Dom, but also some less popular characters such as Astrid and Rolf.

No way. I have a fair amount of popular villagers, and don't care about their popularity. I have them because I like them, not because others do.

I have a few popular ones but it's not because they're popular. I got Raymond in my campsite. Yes I read all the hype about him but I thought he looked cool and after having him in my town for a while I really like him(it's hilarious seeing him walk around in the instant muscles suit). Roald was a random move in and now he's one of my faves. And Molly I had back in NL and I loved her so when I found her on a mystery island I had to invite her. She is the one of all my villagers that is 100% never leaving. It seems like Beau is pretty popular but I find him boring and I have 3 lazies so he's next in line to move. Also I found Octavian and Sherb on mystery islands but didn't invite them(I don't really care for the octopus villagers they just look weird, and as for sherb i dont dislike him but i was looking for other villagers at that time).

As long as you're happy with your villagers it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks! It's your island and you are going to see far more of it than anyone else so have the villagers you love!

Right now I have Marshal and Ankha who are both super popular and I also hope to find Raymond and Judy eventually, but I also absolutely love Gladys and Eugene who are fairly middle of the road in terms of popularity. On the other end of the spectrum, Barold is a genuine favourite of mine and I would be more than happy to have Jambette at some point, both of whom are among the most unpopular villagers in the game.

I have stitches on my island and he is so freaking adorable i literally could squeeze him!! I also have marina who is popular but this is my second island and i had her on my first and finding her TWICE on nmt islands felt like fate..I'm so happy to have my best little pink octopus back with me!! Zucker is also on my island and he is super cute,, i found him on the first nmt i ever used on my island and it also felt like fate lol and i can safely say he will be staying for the time being! The final 'popular' villager i have on my island is Fauna, she is really really adorable and fits my cottagecore/woodland theme very nicely but i would say she is my least favourite out of the three normal villagers i have on my island (chevre,marina,fauna) so i will probably be letting her go so i could replace her w/ another normal villager or a snooty. Overall, i would say don't feel bad for having popular villagers, you like who you like and you can experience whatever islanders you want!

I've also given away popular villagers I didn't care for much in the past, so i guess that helps me not feel like i'm "hoarding" all the faves, if that makes any sense

I really hate this whole “not like the other girls” mindset in the AC community. Can people realize that liking unpopular villagers more than popular villagers does not make you better or more special? Maybe there’s a reason that Raymond is more popular than Limberg… they’re pixels with the same 8 personalities.

And I agree with poster above.
I have Raymond, and I initially didn't like him. He was my 1st camper and I waited 3 entire days to see if he would leave before surrendering and inviting him, certain I would kick him out as soon as I could. Then I found out on the forum how popular he was, and I got curious.
So technically, the main reason I kept him was his popularity. But who cares?! I enjoy having him on my island, which is the entire point. For the game to be enjoyable.
Whether it is enjoyable because you have uncommon villagers that you love for their personnality, or because you have all the super popular villagers and that makes you proud, it's all the same and as long as you're happy playing it's all that matters!

Same, like you said all villagers say the same thing based on their personality. People are going to choose the one that looks better to them. There’s no reason to keep a villager you think looks ugly over one you think looks cute or cool.

I have a ton of popular ones because I think they’re cute. Maybe I’m influenced by their popularity since I see pictures of them floating around a lot? Idk I’d like to think not but it’s def possible. They are popular for a reason I would also like to believe. Some of them truly are extremely cute. Overall I enjoy their presence on my island and don’t plan on letting any of them leave right now.
