I'm not sure if I agree, since there are already people in the country who can do mass shootings like the one in Orlando but if he does, it would help with banning them from our country
Illegal immigration should be controlled of course but you shouldn't stop immigration completely. I definitely appreciate being able to live in a multicultural society and being able to talk to people who are from completely different backgrounds to mine. It makes me appreciate the world a lot more.
Donald Trump is just straight up racist and tries to justify his racism by scaremongering and making people afraid of immigrants even though they work just as hard as other people and help provide for their country.
I'm not from the US but it's obvious to the rest of the world that Trump is just a disgusting man.
No. It's nothing to do with immigration, people anywhere can commit crimes, that'll probably make things a lot worse. Immigrants are not the problem. I hate that this horrible crime against lgbt people is being used to start conversations like this, or ones with islamaphobic and racist themes, I wish people would stop using the suffering and deaths of lgbt people to further their racist agenda (trump in this case).
Because "banning" immigrants would clearly stop the massive problem America has, because obviously only immigrants are carrying out attacks and killing people? No and no, it wouldn't. Gun control would be a start though. Trump is a giant racist, he knows people are scared and hurting right now and he's taking advantage of that.
Exactly, our whole country is based on immigration, our history is immigration, this doesn't make sense! I think that is something most overlook about this subject.
Trump's plan is absurd as there is no surefire way to identify a person's religion, but I think there are legitimate concerns about what people we allow into the U.S. If one of your loved ones was the victim of an ISIS inspired terrorist attack, then maybe you'd have a different opinion about whether Muslims should be allowed to enter the U.S. or not. The vast majority of Muslims who enter the U.S. are not terrorists, but it only takes one bad apple to kill a ton of people. Many people living in the Middle East have fundamentalist religious views. That doesn't make them all terrorists, but many hold views about women, LGBT individuals, and other groups of people which are directly at odds with basic American values. Is it intolerant to say that people who hold intolerant views should not be allowed to come here?
Again, it is totally infeasible to ban people of a certain religion from entering the U.S., but I think that travel bans on people from countries (like Iraq and Syria) which are politically unstable and hold cultural views opposite of American values is something that ought to be seriously discussed and not dismissed outright just because of a fear of appearing intolerant and unwelcoming. Some people we let in may be intolerant and unwelcoming and they pose a very real threat.
Okay, I'm ready to get called Islamophobic now. It's okay; I don't mind.
its disgusting to me how he used orlando to try and fearmonger for one of his causes. trumps parents were immigrants. he wouldnt be in the US and have the opportunity to BE president if it wasnt for their immigration. i love immigration being incorporated into our country and populus and i want it to continue. it wouldnt make sense to close the "mixing pot" to immigration when immigration is what made our history and culture... imagine kids being taught "the founders of our country were immigrants! then later on our 45th president, d. trump, decided to build a huge wall around the country and deny anyone else more access to it, betraying and disrespecting the moral of this country! isnt our history amazing"
The parents of the Hispanic judge in the Trump university case arrived in the U.S. before Trump's parents did so it's really stupid when Trump calls him a Mexican when the judge's family has been in America longer than Trump's. And also Mexico is closer to the U.S. than all the European countries.
