Hi! I’m sorry if this has already been asked here before! But I’m just wondering if villagers in New Horizons still show off letters to other residents in your island just like they did in New Leaf. I hope not, since I really want to write them special letters to show them that I care about them, but I don’t want my sister seeing what I’ve written.. xD

I LOVED this feature! Esp when they showed crazy anonymous letters they got in the mail and you could speculate who it was. I don't believe it is a feature in NH b/c I haven't witnessed it yet, but I could be wrong. Def want to see what other people say!

This feature was removed for New Horizons. I thought it was sweet when they showed me my old letters, especially because I wrote some sentimental ones. But I also wrote a lot of dumb ones and I was self conscious that they'd show them to strangers or towns they'd move to, so part of me is a little glad they don't do this anymore.

Oh okay! Thank you everyone for your responses! So it seem like they don't show off letters.. does anyone know if letters still give friendship points? I know they definitely did in New Leaf but I'm not so sure about New Horizons.. I think I read somewhere that they don't, but I just want to make sure.

They don't unfortunately :(

No friendship points, but there are Nook Miles achievements for sending them, so that's something at least.

I also miss them showing off letters. There were some wiiiild ones on the GCN version - the localization team had way too much fun with those.

Wow, I never saw the GCN letters, but they definitely sound awesome! Now I miss them showing off letters, too!

I was just recently thinking about this. I wish they hadn't removed it. It was so funny when a villager would show me a letter I had sent long ago. I always wrote them silly letters, and it was funny to see them again.

Sadly no, I really wish they would bring this back, it made me feel more connected to my villagers!

omg I played the GC game and I 100% do Not remember these letters >__> I would also be confused if I got that in the mail
iirc they were default messages and that once you started sending villagers letters, they would phase those weird default ones out and start showing off ones sent by human players.

I miss this feature. It was so cute when they were eager to share letters with me!

I was waiting for someone to show a letter I had sent, but it has never happened and then I heard it was never put in New Horizons. It was a little bit embarrassing sometimes back when I shared a town with my sister and Frobert showed her weird letters I had sent him to be his friend. That being said, it is a cute feature and lets you remember old letters you have sent and I think it's a shame that it is not in New Horizons.

I'm glad it's not a feature this time. I honestly don't understand how people go as far as saying they MISS it... It's nobody's business what letters I send to my villagers.

I honestly miss it. I know it sounds weird but I actually liked how the villagers were little busybodies in past games. I don't mind if they embarrass me! XD Plus I think it would be a fun mechanic to have around to help build lore or story telling if you have a themed island or an island with a story. I love quirky game mechanics like the letters because I think it makes the game unique.
