Do villagers decor reset when moving to a new island?

Someone just told me that villagers don’t bring items that were gifted by old island owners. That all items that were gifted to that villager will end up in the recycle bin. Can anyone attest to this?

EDIT just saw the post talking about villagers throwing your gifts in the bin (subtle) and that’s cool and all but does their house decor reset?

Well, I had Bluebear as a starter. She went to my friend and my roommate (guess she still had void data in my game) and in both cases her house was 100% reset to how it should look. She dumped all of her items I gave her and I gave her a lot to make her house better looking. She even changed her clothes back to default when she moved to their towns.

Just from my experience, their interiors don't completely reset. I adopted Aurora, and she had various smaller furniture items that aren't a part of her normal interior. She noticeably replaced her record player with a Sewing Project item. It's a little different with starter villagers, who end up resetting with their correct interior.

Not completely I think. They sometimes keep furniture from the last island they were adopted from.

Not sure about interior but I know for sure that clothing doesn't fully reset
