Do the villagers have to like you to suggest PWPs?

Yeah, title says it all lol. My boyfriends character is the mayor of our town, and he never plays. I started logging in as him to get the villagers to start suggesting the projects, doing the diving trick, but I wanna know if I'm wasting my time or not. The villagers hate him and constantly make snarky comments about how he's never around.

Does anyone know the answer? Do they have to like you to suggest projects or is it random?

The more the villager likes the you the higher chance you'll get one
Pinky suggested one to me and I hate her but Phoebe has never suggested one to me and we're best friends

I'm not sure if they *have* to like you but a higher friendship definitely helps

Ah, that's upsetting. I've tried the diving trick about 5 times now and the only things they say are "IF THERE'S AN AXE IN A MAGIC POOL WHAT COLOR WOULD IT BE LOL" and "IF I WERE AN ANIMAL WHICH WOULD I BE"

Which is amusing but really not helpful.

I think it helps. The villagers I'm closer with tend to request more PWPs to me. That diving trick has never worked for me.
