Do cedar saplings not grow in the south?

I planted some cedar saplings in the south of my town and every single one wilted ;-;

I learnt it the hard way too.
The most annoying part is gauging where the middle of the map is (unless you count I guess) because just one space out of the "north zone" will cause them to wilt too.

Nope, they only grow in the north.

Though I learned this the easy way cause I just happened to never plant cedar trees in the southern part of my town xDD

Sometimes I wish they could grow anywhere, but I also like region specific trees.

Makes for a nice forest part of your town. ^_^
