Do amiibos work with it?

Do the other animal crossing amiibos work with the game at all? Or even the Mario Party/smash bros series of amiibos work with it?

They haven't said anything about it. Hopefully they are compatible, but I don't think so

The Animal Crossing amiibo figures will work. If you go to Nintendo's website and click the AC figures it says they're compatible with HHD. My guess is they do the same as the cards - giving you early access to some characters, like Winter Isabelle, K.K. Slider, Mabel, Reese and Cyrus, who aren't in series 1.
