Has anyone had this happen?

I went to pick up Lolly from someone on Reddit and after confirming that she'll move to my town I ended the session. Get back to my town and the plot says that it's been sold to Diana (which I don't mind since she's also a dreamie LOL) but has this happened to anyone before and if so, does anyone have a clue as to why? Kinda asdfghjkl since I really wanted Lolly but as I said, Diana's also a dreamie so it's ok. I can't imagine how torn I'd be if it was a villager I disliked. I know there's been talk about a villager glitch but I'm not sure if this is the one?

I guess I should mention that I saw Diana walking around the person's town. Not sure if this matters but yeah.

Oh no. I think this is the "I've moved out" glitch a lot of people have been reporting. Unfortunately if that's the case then neither will move into your town and you will have a glitched, empty plot.

Thankfully a lot of people have been able to fix the glitch by time traveling until the plot is reset, but unfortunately they lose the villager.

I hope this is not the case, but that's what it sounds like. :(

You should report this to Nintendo, as everyone who is experiencing glitches should do. The more complaints they get the better the chance of a patch and fix to all of this craziness.

Yeah you're right. I TT'd to the next day and am now glitched. I'm basically in tears because my day has been bad and this is just the tip of the iceberg for me. On top of that, the redditor thinks I'm lying about this being a glitch because "all of their other trades are successful". Boy oh boy. I hope Nintendo fixes this soon.

Thank you though, I'm going to try your advice of TTing until the plot is reset.

Could be that a villager that was in someone who you’ve connected online with’s void got to the plot first. This will in turn glitch your game. This won’t always happen with adopting villagers (I got Bones and he moved in safely), but it really is a gamble sometimes. Nintendo really has to patch this bug soon. :/

I'm so sorry. :(

Just as a future reference, according to people who have experienced the glitch, you need to check with the villager you are adopting to see if you can ask them to move twice in a row. Regularly once they accept to move in they will continue talking to you about their move to your island. But it seems when the villager is glitched it's already glitched before it moves and if this is the case they will still have the request to move to your island be able to happen.

If they can be asked again then you close the game before auto-save happens. At least that's what I've read people doing.

I'm so sorry that the other Redditor isn't listening to you. The glitch is definitely a thing. You find a doc with more info and some theories about the glitch here if you want to send that over to the person you adopted from. I think it's still unclear exactly where the glitch originated from and why some people get it and others don't (other than just the randomness of the void, which in itself seems to be broken in this game). So while I don't think it's the Redditor's fault, and it's certainly not your fault, they definitely shouldn't accuse you of lying.
