I've had fire drills from preschool to senior year of high school - In 6th grade, they were once a month, and that was when my anxiety over when the next fire drill would be became severe. It also became severe in 9th grade, because I had a class in a small room where the noise would be amplified. There were times I would try to become sick on purpose just to hopefully miss the school day of the fire drill.

I did but just because the siren noise would catch me off guard and surprise me. I don't do well with sudden loud noises so the drills would always get my adrenaline levels up even though I knew it was just a drill.

I honestly can't remember but I wouldn't be surprised if hearing the sound again now freaks me out. That's how I respond to weather alert tests, anyway...

This seems like a question I would ask. YES I DID! I didn't really have it during kindergarten and 1st grade, as the alarms were not that loud (kinda liked fire drills back then actually) but during 2nd-through even my senior year, I had anxiety severely. My mom was ignorant and insensitive about it.

I’m not sure. I don’t remember anything from when I was a kid. I didn’t start developing anxiety until middle school, though. So I might not have. Not sure even when I did have anxiety, if the fire drills bothered me.

I didn’t. I just hated the drill itself where we gathered outside. I hated the kids at my school and that was only a chance to see more of them.

I enjoyed fire drills because it meant we got to go outside and I didn't have to sit there doing work/pretending to do work 🤭

In 9th grade though we had a "fire drill" every single day for TWO WEEKS because someone kept pulling the fire alarm and that got to be kinda annoying because it was during winter

Yeah, I always hated the noise. IIRC, the school was nice enough to have staff members secretly warn me when I was younger due to my heightened sensitivity.

The fresh air was pretty nice though.

I did!
Definitely remember it in Secondary school, unsure about Primary. (Actually, one time two kids from my class pressed the fire alarm, a joke, prank or fun? Who knows, and so many firefighter trucks came, though I was sick that day but they got in a lot of trouble and even once back the teachers still told them off about it.)

Actually, I do remember once when we had the fire drill at Primary, and all the kids had to come and sit on the playground floor, my hearing aids were acting silly and irritating at the time.

In secondary, I remember them being quite loud. And there was this caged area in the playground that was used for football and we all had to line up in and just stand there fir ages.
It was annoying standing up DX

I think the best time we had firedrills, was when we had half term or leave school early for holidays, they did the firedrill before they let us leave through another gate that lead to the exit of school. Annoying though for some as we left all our belongings sometimes and had to go back XD

No, I never had anxiety over things like this. It was annoying in university though when it happened during the middle of the night and it interrupted my sleep...

I saw fire drills as a few minutes to stand up for a bit and get out of class. (as the user above me just wrote, it was a nice break).

Felt a little bad for the kids who had to cover ears though. Some are sensitive to the high pitched sounds.

I didn’t, I actually quite enjoyed fire drills because I could go outside for a break.

When I was living at the university dorms in my senior year, someone kept pulling or triggering the fire alarm system in the middle of the night on the weekends. I would be sleeping and I had work at my part-time job some mornings, so the sound would surprise me and the “drills” were annoying, if anything.

Not really. Even though I was undiagnosed with autism as a kid, I was always perfectly calm during fire drills when the alarm went off. Everyone else were covering their ears from the noise but I didn’t and I sort of liked the sound.

yes lmao, theyre loud, sudden and the sound is the worst. during my freshman year, people would pull the alarm all the time.

The only time I did was when I had a boot/cast on my broken foot and had no idea where the elevator was lol.

Not really. The alarm is just kind of an annoying jumpscare.

No, and we had a lot of earthquake drills in California too. Now I work in a hospital and there are random beeping things and announcements all the time, so I almost tune them out! Alarm fatigue is real...

They really hurt my ears back in school since I have bad noise sensitivities, but unless the weather was harsh once I left the building I didn’t particularly mind fire drills much. In the high school I went to we didn’t even have fire drills.
