Did New Leaf not do as well as other AC games?

New Leaf hasnt even been out for a year yet, and it seems a lot of people that had it dropped it rather fast. My friend list hasnt had anyone come online in months. I even noticed more and more copies of the game show up in the used section at my local game stores.

I think it's done better than other AC games IMO - people are always selling games no matter how popular they are after all but that's just me...

EDIT: Oh and it has been out in Japan for just over a year and I still find loads of people on the CT island all the time :3

This is one of the best selling, if not THE best selling of the series. Ever. I still StreetPass people playing this all the time. I live in Japan too, where the game has been out for over a year.

However, keep in mind though that the game has been out for 6 months in North America/Europe/Australia, and even longer in Japan and Korea. Plenty of big games have come out since NL was released. Some people have gotten their fun out of it and moved on. I still play, but I've extremely decreased the amount of time I play.

I was in London yesterday and streetpassed around 40 people of which 5 had AC houses to share, so that's about 12.5% of a fairly large (for UK) sample; however I noticed a few more of them were saying they'd recently been playing ACNL but didn't send a house. I assume those are new players which means people are still picking it up as well.

(As an amusing aside, one of the Streetpass people I got on a previous visit had a completely empty one-room house and his phrase was the website address of the bar he owns in Soho. Uh... what sort of customers do you think you're gonna get by advertising on Animal Crossing?? LOL)

Ehh? NL is probably the most selling AC game I've seen . u .
Maybe not many people are on because they have other games to play or something.

But I'm still addicted to the game.

I've been streetpassing a fair number of people who only started playing in the last month as well -- there are definitely still people buying and playing it. It could just be your circle of friends?

On GameRankings and MetaCritic, it has the highest ratings.

The first sold about 2 million copies.
Wild World sold about 11.70 million copies.
City Folk sold about 3.38 million copies.
New Leaf has sold about 6.35 million copies.

It's done far better than the first game, which people seem to hold in a much more favorable light (for whatever insane reason).
