maybe 50 year olds do have a clue what amiibos are
Yes, many of us in that age range have been Nintendo fans since the beginning. Well, specifically, we've been fans since the beginning of the electronic era, not the company's actual start in 1889. That would make us really old. Squeezed in between dealing with issues of care for elderly parents and getting our children (or young adults as the prefer to be called) set up for university. several of us relish a few stolen moments every day in the world of Animal Crossing.
I cherish a little time each night or early morning, visiting my real life best friend's village or inviting her to visit me. We enjoy a cup of coffee together at Brewster's, sit on a bench by a river to eat ice cream, help one another choose a spot for a police station or check out the visitors at one another's campground.
I love the additional functionality of AC:NL with the amiibos as well as the fun of using them with HHD. I have several amiibo cards. I would love to have more especially the NPC's, but I have to balance the RL family budget, too. I have ordered a couple of amiibos for myself because I found them online for $5.00. Mabel was one of the ones on sale, so I eagerly await her arrival in the mail. Blathers and Celeste are on my Christmas wish list.
I will admit that my son was really embarrassed at the video game store with me when I asked about the possibility of a midnight launch for HHD the way they do with Call of Duty games. I assured him it was a tongue-in-cheek request and the store manager saw the humor, too.
I see many people here in the forums worrying hat others think about them playing AC or being seen playing it. It is a wonderful thing about being in your 50's, that what others think about you playing AC is completely irrelevant. So there are advantages to being an older player.
Please don't worry. I was not offended by your statement, just very amused. My point really is that if you enjoy your amiibos, then they are awesome!
