I'd got Diana in my town before, and she was very close to my mayor. But no matter how many furniture I gave her (by request,in letters etc) she never changed the mermaid series and the bathtube, which I really really wanted.(Note: I don't really want to waste my time playing minigames on the island...) Isn;t she giving me any of those because they are from the island? I mean you can change almost every kind of furniture in the villager's house. I've got Biskit's cabanna bed too, but really did not get Diana's bathtube, even after months of playing, talking to Diana everyday. What's the problem? Should I have waited more patiently?

If you give her furniture by request or letter, it's not guaranteed that she'll pay you back with her old furniture. In the case of requests, there's a chance that she will but I've also been paid in random other items. When you send them letters, the chances are even lower since they'll usually send something random back.

Did you have open spots in Re-Tail? Sometimes, when villagers replace their furniture, they'll put it up in Re-Tail. If they swap out furniture and don't sell it, sometimes they end up trying to sell or trade it with you.

The most foolproof way of getting her furniture is just by being invited to visit her. When villagers invite you over in conversation, after talking to them a few times during your visit, they'll offer to let you buy something from their house. You can buy anything she has this way, except for bugs or fish. I've never had villagers tell me I couldn't take their items just because they're unorderable or rare, so I don't think she'll stop you from buying the mermaid furniture from her.

If that doesn't work, you can try to buy the set from someone here on the forum. I don't know how many in-game bells or expensive items you have, but you have some TBT, which you can use in the TBT marketplace. There are people there selling it :)

She won't change some furniture also... the bathtub may not be changeable. For example, if a villagers asks you to come over, when you enter their house and they ask you if you like any of their furniture, check around and there will be some items you cannot buy. These are permanent pieces.
