Getting 5 stars will be hard, if not impossible with only 8 villagers.

With my second island, I only have 8 villagers. The two things a that stand out most are

Pro: 8 villagers makes the town feel less cramped. I love it.
Con: You cannot kick villagers out with Amiibos unless you have 10 villagers. This means you will have to patiently wait for villagers to move out if you plan on using an amiibo.
I would also add the cons of no lily of the valleys spawning (although I have more than I want now so would gladly give them away)
And no golden watering can DIY (but sora/roxas doesn't like gold tools so not a huge issue I suppose)

Wait, I thought you could only get five stars with ten residents? Any lower and you'll only get four stars

So, I dont think you could get a five star rating with only eight villagers regardless of your island,

Also, whats Lily of the valley?

Used to be known as Jacobs ladders in new leaf
Theyre the white flowers you get growing on cliffs when 5 stars

What? That is so stupid! So you need to have 10 villagers to kick them out and not have 8? Ugh this just ruined my plan. I guess I will just have to get only 10 villagers just so I can kick out the ones I don't want. This game is so dumb sometimes with its restrictions!

If you want, I can get you any amiibo villager for whatever plots you've yet to put down

No thank you. I have enough amiibos to invite villagers I want to add anyways, but man the fact that you cannot kick out villagers when you have 8 and you're suppose to have 10 that is so dumb. I'm sorry but that really just bothered me.

It is dumb but I also get it from the other side of that you can get them if you put down a plot.
It is annoying for this side of it though.

My offer stands thought for if a villager you want gone asks to move and you have someone in mind you want to move in.
I'd happily get them in boxes for you that day if you've not got someone ready to take their place :)

The worst thing about putting down a plot is that once you put it down there is no way to pick it back up. Thats another thing that makes it so difficult to get villagers especially when you're trying your best not to time travel, but then its things like this that makes it hard to even get villagers you want from a friends island. Sorry to go on a tangent there, but that was the issue I had the first time last year when I didn't understand what they mean about having an empty plot and then I figured it out sooner.

Thank you anyways for the feedback and I do appreciate it.

No worries :)
Just keep my offer in mind before you commit to placing the other 2 plots down. Because as you said, once its down, you're with them for life.

But if your starter normal moved out, I could have you any normal but Megan/sanrio moved in for you that same day.

Don't want you compromising on your island as I've restarted my second one so many times due to compromises I regreted

It's not too bad if you're willing to wait or TT for them to naturally move out. I waited for some of mine to move out and now I got all 8 of the villagers I wanted. Just takes some time.

Well I am not going to do it. I am just going to invite 10 villagers on my island just so I can kick out the ones that I don't want. I refuse to do that stupid card mini game.

You need 10 villagers to get 5 stars.
You only need 3 stars to get KK so if that's as far as you're interested in going then 8 is fine.
That’s so interesting I didn’t know you could do this and still unlock terraforming

If I could back in time and not build the houses, I would of probably left it at 9. I have one house I don’t know what to do with.
