Around a week ago Olivia moved out. I don't have enough tickets to go hunting for villagers nor do I really care who comes to my town so I thought I'd let someone just randomly come in. But it's been like a week if not longer and nobody's moving in? Wtf is this RNG?

You need to log on every day, it should only take about 3 days tho? If no one appears after 3 days then somethings up

This actually happened to me a week ago. I believe it's a glitch. I eventually time skipped a whole week- with it still being available and not yet sold. I fixed it by going villager hunting with NMT. Amiibos, Campsite, Island hunting, and Villagers from other islands should all fix this.
the benefit is that you can take as long as you want to get a new one!

I decided to let a random villager move in once. It took four days for somebody to take the spot, but on the fourth day it was finally sold. I always thought that it was meant to be filled on day two if you didn't fill it yourself on day one. Maybe there's actually a chance for it to take longer, and you just happened to hit the lotto on the longest amount of time? But even then, a whole week sounds like a really long time. You can wait another day or two and see if it gets filled. If not, then I would just fill it with a mystery island guest.
