Here's my previous design, where I tried to go with a valley aesthetic. This is likely something you're looking for, feel free to use it as inspiration:

If you want a 'cliffy' island, you'll want to make use of large surface area and long cliffs like above.

I love your town map  The only problem is I want to keep my river intact.

I look at other people's maps and it feels like they're 3x bigger than mine simply because mine doesn't utilize space well. If anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it.

I think the biggest issue you're having is your river is too wide, and very straight. It takes up a lot of space because of this. Perhaps narrow your river down to 3-4 wide instead of 5-6 wide that you have in many areas of your island will help open up a bit of space to add more cliffs in.

I had to thin down my river a bit recently. Yours looks very wide. I try to keep mine only 3 or 4 spaces wide for most of it. I also vary the thickness of my river so it looks more natural and less straight as well as try to have it meander a bit. It doesn't have to be very curvy to look more natural, but rivers don't normally flow in straight lines unless they are dug out to do so. I've seen some fantastic canals that people have made if you do want to go that route!

It really depends on if you want your town to look more natural/foresty a la cottagecore style or more like a city. That can help you decide how you want your river to look. You can also just bring your cliffs straight across the top three areas of your map so they come down to your resident services and wrap them around a little on your left or right. You could also build them up on your peninsula to connect them.

Here is a rough sketch about what I am thinking of that you can totally use as inspiration. I tried to get your resident services in the right spot. If you want lots of cliffs, then you can go all-in on those cliffs! There is a super straight river on the south river that be turned into a little canal. I made the rivers connect because I like how they looked, but you could easily separate them or even just take off one branch. I just happen to like waterfalls so I had to put at least two in!
