Yes they do still have "favorite gifts" but youre right, there are more options now. So for Kiki, it seems like you are looking for something brown and/or beige in the simple style. If you need guidance, some ACNH apps have favorite gift suggestions for specific villagers!

And when you're in the game, I've noticed that when you give them something that fits their preferences partially or entirely, they'll comment on it when they open the gift!

Also, pro-tip: some of the villagers (especially sisterly ones) says things like "this isn't normally my style..." but I think that's just a pre-programmed thing. I trust these are, in fact, "perfect" gifts for them regardless. Sisterlies just don't like to admit it I guess, lol
