Day two. I walk out the door. Greeted with this. I don't even. I'm upset, but I'm also laughing because I was literally saying, "Well, as long as nobody decides to build down the center of my map, I can put my bridge and a nice little path with pwps right there. <3"
NOPE.

ED. WHY.

Oh well... I'm not into TT'ing or resetting, so...best natural way to tell him to hit the road? Should I just not talk to him at all? That's usually what I do. :(

Ed, there is a WHOLE southern portion of the map that has absolutely nobody in it. Why there?

If you want to get Ed out of your town quickly, the best thing to do would be to introduce yourself to him tomorrow and then NEVER speak to him again. Not even if he pings. He should move out within a few weeks, I think.

ignoring them makes them stay longer for me. talking to them as much as possible makes em move. but idk its sort of random

I respect that you don't want to TT, but you could and maybe should consider coming in each new day on a throwaway character - just to make sure Nook isn't moving anyone into a spot that you have set aside for something. If all is well you go to the mayor's office, speak to Isabell, save the new character and then come into game on your mayor. After you save on your Mayor then you can delete your throw-away second player. Might save you some heartache down the road.

Yes ignoring them make them stay longer. But if you did the first intro, then ignore they will leave withing 5 days (if he was not the last move in).

Ignoring them only makes them stay longer if you've already developed a friendship with them. By that I mean, if you've talked to the villager you want out more than once, then you've developed a friendship. That's the theory behind it, anyway. This vid explains it pretty well.

Oh really? Oh man. Thanks for telling me that. I'll be sure to introduce myself then. I'm sure someone else will move in right along after him since this is a new town.
Man, Ed. Lol I'm still laughing.

Yup this is the main reason why why i restarted my town. If you dont care who is moving in, it will only take a few tries to get the new neighbors plot in a place your ok with (:

What you suggest is what OP said they are not into in the first post. Since that is considered part of resetting.
If someone is against TTing and resetting, for just themselves or in general, then they just don't do it.
So it's not very helpful.

But yes, as others said. The ignore method.
Greet them while they are in boxes unpacking and then never speak to them again. Ever. Even if a villager asks you to deliver something to them for you, don't.
If they ping, don't answer their ping...
Unless, you save-continue then answer their ping. If it isn't about them moving then you will have to quit game without saving. Or if it is about them moving but they changed their mind, you would have to quit game without saving.
If you don't want to deal with that. Then best to just not answer their pings either and wait for Isabelle to tell you that someone is in boxes.

A very thorough answer. Thank you! I wasn't sure if I had to ignore all pings or if they mattered at all, now I know. Looks like I'm on the right path to getting Ed out of here. :D
I'm not too terribly inconvenienced by him being there, which is what I assume a lot of people thought. It's only day two, so he's not preventing some huge project of mine or anything. I just obviously don't want him to be there forever. I'm patient enough to wait a week or two for him to leave of his own accord, so I appreciate your sentiment.

You're welcome.
But since you are on day 2 of the town I assume you don't have 9 villagers yet?
So, no one will be wanting to move until after the 9th person has moved in.
Only when messing with TTing stuff can you get a move date from someone when you have 8 villagers. Which is still pretty rare in my experience.

I don't think that's 100% true. In my last save, I had only eight villagers when Apollo asked me to move out and I don't TT or reset, either.

Yeah, Ed is my first villager to move in. So it's not a big deal. He won't really be a hindrance until I start doing things with that area, which isn't first priority anyway. ^^
Hopefully my other move-in neighbors are more considerate and migrate to the massive empty space on the lower half. Lol

Oh. On the subject of numbers of neighbors. I wanted to ask a quick question seeing as you all seem very informed. ^^
Does it matter how old your town is if you wanna ask someone to move in?
Like, will I have any problems going to someone else's town to ask their neighbor in boxes to move into my town?

I don't have any different suggestions than what you've already been given, but you have my deepest sympathies. Canberra did the exact same thing to my cycle mayor, just parked her stupid house right in front.

The younger the town the better. The thing that really matters, though, is your current number of villagers. For example, it's sometimes to harder to get someone to move in -- usually from the campsite, I think -- if you have eight or nine villagers, and when you first start playing new villagers move in, like, every other day. That's why I say, the younger the better.
So if you see one of your dreamies up for grabs and you have the space and the means to buy or trade for them, then I'd do it now.

That is good info to know. It just has only happened with me in my old town when I was trying to quickly get out villagers since it had a lot of tier one villagers I knew were peoples dreamies that I didn't want to be lost forever. ^^'
But I still think it is kinda rare thing to happen for a villager to want to move if you have less than 9 villagers ((unless a villager is plotting that day or the next))

I think has long as you have your TPC with a picture, you can adopt a villager from another town.
I know someone who only had 7 villagers ((a new town)) adopted Zell from me a while back.

Oh, wonderful. Thank you for that information. I was afraid the villager would say something like, "But your town is hardly developed, I don't wanna move there!" lol
I'd be devastated.

Lol. I used to think the same thing, but they don't really care as long as you have the space for them.

Yeah, I don't know how rare it is, but I do know that it's possible since it happened to me.

I have done a lot of experimentation and as far as i can see moving a certain villager is random.

Being better friends with him is the only factor i know increases the chances.
