So I have the cushion and I gave it to Cyrus along with a custom qr of a cat curled up sleeping.. and he told me that if I change the qr it'll change on the cushion! I only have one free qr slot because of my path, and I use that one for clothes ;-;
Does he mean if I change it during the 30 min time to make it? Or is it always that if I change it, it changes on the pillow just like with paths?
If you ever change it, the design on the Cushion (or any furniture customized with a pattern) will change as well. It works just like the paths, unfortunately. If you want that design, that pattern will have to stay in your 10-pattern inventory.
Do you know about if someone gives you a cushion? Like if I had someone make a cat cushion and then drop it off in my town, would it still change accordingly?
They won't even be able to drop off a Cushion that was customized with a pattern. If you customize a furniture item normally, they have a red leaf icon. However, if you customize a furniture item with a pattern, they have a yellow leaf icon. Anything with a yellow leaf icon can't be dropped on the ground, sent in a letter, or given to a villager in any form. If you put the item customized with a pattern in ReTail, villagers won't buy it, and if an actual human character tries to buy it, it'll ask you which slot out of the 10 you want to put said pattern.
There's literally no way around it. You have to put that pattern in your inventory and keep it there at all times if you don't want it to change.
No worries! Yeah, it's kind of an obscure thing. You think that you can find a loophole but then you realize that the devs designed it so that you wouldn't be able to mess with the patterns. I didn't realize it until I tried to do the same thing. It's a shame that we don't have more than 10 slots to hold patterns.
I'm 99% sure that you can refurbish the Cushion with regular clothing items along with the standard customization options, so even if you can't have a cute cat cushion, you at least have tons of other options when it comes to customizing it.
Yeah, you can't really use patterns after you delete them and they'll just disappear if you do, and you can't get people to do that for you.
The only way around it is to create a new villager (a non-mayor, one of those side-characters) who can hold the extra patterns for you. I don't know if you can pass a qr item between characters but you could always get the extra character to hold your path patterns (you may have to lay them all down again after switching, though, I've never had to delete paths from one character to pass on to another one so I don't know) and then switch into that character when you want to lay down paths. I'm suggesting paths since they're the easiest to use on a side character.
