I normally use the common base when creating collectibles, or one similar. Use a good transparent image or a good image you can make transparent that I can also mess with. And try to keep the image big enough but small enough away from the lined edges of the base (normally by 1 or 2 pixels away from the edge).

You're first collectible. The ground isn't very pretty, the fossil isn't fully transparent, and the fossil itself is a little too tiny.
You're second collectible. The background is dull, and the leaf is nice but it needs to stick out more and have more life if that makes sense.

Oh I see but you have roughly erased the cake with a darker shade of gray that doesn't match. Hard to tell sorry to say.the backgorund for the leaf is the same as the cake, almost and I'm gonna fix that thanks

They both look really choppy, misshapen and LQ. How did you make them? It could probably be easily fixed. If you drew them yourself, you should really try a softer brush. That could help a lot.
