Crazy redd

Does anybody know that if Crazy Redd is in your friends town, does he still only sell one genuine painting? He says that you can only buy 1 painting per person, so if your friend buys the real one does that mean the 3 visitors can only buy the fake ones?
Or can they also buy the real one?

I'd tried going to my friend's town to buy a painting but he didn't let me.
It's still one genuine painting.

There can be more than one genuine piece of art. I remember once Redd was selling two real artworks and I did not have a second character to buy it. My sister came over and bought it. However, they can't buy the same piece of art.
