Could someone explain turnips and the stalk market?

Hi! I've been playing the game for a while now but haven't bother to even look into how the stalk market/turnips work, but after seeing from a friend how much you can make off it, I would like to know. So could anyone explain how and what it is? Thanks!

hello! the stalk market is the easiest way to get some bells!
every sunday (from 6am to noon) look out for Joan (she's a boar btw) and she'll sell turnips for _ price, they are usually 90 bells, but they can go higher or lower maybe (i usually get 90ish). you have the rest of the week to sell these turnips at another town (people in the train station post if they have over 400-500 turnip prices which is the best way to rack up bells!). a tip is to not TT backwards as they will rot and have no value. also store your turnips in your locker c:

i usually buy a page or two of turnips at once btw, some buy a full locker but i need to clean mine out to do that haha

Will traveling forward in time do anything? And even if you travel back like one or two days will they rot?

traveling forward won't do anything, just sell them before the next sunday. traveling any amount of time backwards will make them rot immediately.

Joan can sell turnips at 90 to 108 bells. I only buy when it's under 95 bells. Try to get 90 before buying.
Get a good set of online friends that will share when their prices are higher.
Anyone with a high price opens the gates for everyone to sale. You do the same and you might get tips for letting people in.
Some of us have extra copies and can leave the price on a high day for abunch of days.
Everyone buys on Sunday and sells them right away.
