Introduction

My name is Gabriel.
I have been doing GFX for a good number of years, I started around 2008 and have taken a huge break from it.
However, I'm wanting to get myself back into it. I use PhotoShop CS6 for GFX and Paint Tool SAI fr drawings.

The first post of the gallery features old work dating as back as 2008 and latest being around 2011-2012.
I'm happy to answer any questions and will sometimes take requests free of any change.

I have been drawing for a very long time, longer than I have been doing GFX but I never took a serious interest in it until recently. I also don't practice as much as I should so while there will be some drawings and WIPs in this thread, GFX will be the main focus.

These are absolutely stunning<3 I started GFX just last year but I always love to see this kind of incredible stuff it's quite inspiring for someone who is still a fresh face in this area : ) Definitely gonna see if you post any newer pieces! Hey Prince, you've got a really interesting style! I like how rough and grungy your signatures look, and the way you smudge/distort your sigs to make that happen really does wonders imo.

Your brushwork is stunning in general, but these two tags stand out. That's because you managed to blend the renders into the backgrounds so well. So you seem to be very creative with your brushes, which is admirable!

Your background sense is pretty notable as well. These tags have just the right balance of effects and negative space, and the text is very nice.

In fact, I'd say that you've nearly got the concept of text down pat. You often put it in good spots that don't detract from the focal point, and the text variety you apply (i.e. mixing fonts/colors/sizes) is always interesting. Your use of decorative text to supplement the main text is great as well. It's something that I don't often see anymore so I really like how you do it, haha.

Although, despite your good text sense, it can look awkward sometimes, such as here:

I would suggest putting the text closer to the guy, on top of the white smoke so that it doesn't look so out of place. As it is, the text placement makes me think about how weird that effect looks instead of what I should really be looking at - the person on the left.

Ah, also, another critique - while I said before that your style is quite unique and interesting, the cons of having a grainy signature style is that things can get oversharpened/lose its quality easily. Here's an example of that:

So in these cases, I'd suggest toning down the effect and using a higher quality image if possible. Ciel probably wasn't too HQ to start with, so no wonder it looks wonky here.

But overall it was nice to go through your gallery! It's great that you're getting back into GFX-making again :-]
I would normally offer more C+C than this but these are pretty old, as you've mentioned in the OP, and I'm sure your style/tendencies have changed a bit. Looking forward to future updates from you!
(Love the large pieces, by the way. Just wanted to mention this before I forgot. These (x, x) are amazing. Like, damn.)

Ah! Thanks so much everyone for your comments and critique.
The large pieces are newer than the signatures since they're easier for me to make.

Tonight, I dusted off my PS siggy making skills and gave it a shot.
I'm content with the results. =)
I wanted to add text, but....it didn't seem to actually need it.

And an icon just for a set's sake.

Yeh, it's a just a crop off the siggy, shhh
