I dont know if im the only one here that is really ticked off at the goverment with what is going on, like the healthcare, and obama. They haven't even read the bill all the way through, and passed it against the populations will. The popular vote went towards not passing it and what does he do.........he goes ahead and just does it. That my friends in UNCONSTITUTIONAL, but our govenment is so corrupt no one will stop him. Anyone that is tired of the government pushing us around and is 18 please join me in voteing this comming november for new state Reps. i beleive it is important for our Gen. to become more active in the political world, we can change the nation and get it back on track. just wanted to get that off my chest and i am not meaning to offend anyone it is only my opion, and i will listen to other sides, without gettion offended haha. Imin Govt. class in high school and my teacher takes both sides, i really like the coversations with people on politics now :D lol

What you said is true, but it didn't start with Obama. Most modern presidents and congresses have violated the Constitution.

They haven't even read the bill all the way through, and passed it against the populations will.
Yeah, you really think that they passed the bill without reading it? Is that even possible? That is to say, the people who wrote it sure as hell know what's in it, it's not like something just farted it out in completed form. And the population's will is manifested in the Democratic majority in both chambers of congress and the executive branch, don't talk to me about what the latest Fox News poll says.

The popular vote went towards not passing it and what does he do.........he goes ahead and just does it.
Again, the popular vote is not the latest Fox News poll. And a referendum is not held on legislation, we have something called an elected body to do that. I'm going to assume the "he" in your sentence is Obama, but once again, he doesn't pass legislation, the popularly elected members of congress do that. Jesus.

That my friends in UNCONSTITUTIONAL
No, my friend, that is called DEMOCRACY. I hope your "goverment" class is remedial.

Anyone that is tired of the government pushing us around and is 18 please join me in voteing this comming november for new state Reps.
I find it difficult to believe that you are of voting age. And I will be exercising my right to vote this November by voting against that evil cow Michele Bachmann. The good people of the Northwest Twin Cities Metro will not make the mistake of sending her asinine face back to Washington.

i beleive it is important for our Gen. to become more active in the political world, we can change the nation
No arguments here.

get it back on track.
I think we're actually already in the process of this. Eight years of Bush has negatively affected nearly every sector of our society.

Thank you. Exactly what I wanted to say. I still have to wait a couple more years before I can get Michelle Bachman outta there, and not have to be ashamed to call myself a Minnesotan anymore.

And, people overwhelmingly favored the bill when it had the public option. :/

I still don't think anything Obama is doing is benefiting us. The only bill he's passed is the Healthcare Bill and he's been in office for what, 2 years now? He's been pushing this bill ever since him and Clinton had that "secret meeting" behind closed doors. The only other real law he's passed is the Abortion Law. But other than that, nothing really beneficial. And yes, the people that wrote the bill read it, but not many others read it. More than half of America voted to not have this bill, and not just on Fox mind you. So Pear, that is a lie. People did not favor it.
And I agree with Jeremy in the fact that even before Obama, the nation was going down the tubes. Bush was okay his first four, most will agree with me on that, but he went downhill his second term. Nixon, Clinton, etc., all turned this country the wrong way. I think that the founding fathers are turning in their graves right now because of the way this nation is right now.
Another thing is, Obama hasn't really done anything but put us into more debt. You can say "But Bush put us there!" That's the past, nothing more you can do about it. And yes, he did, but Obama hasn't even begun to fix it. Spending won't clear our debt.

60% favored it with a public option.
I'll look for the poll later, but now I gotta go to school.
Anyways, Obama's only been in office for one year, and the reason he hasn't accomplished anything is because Republicans have become the party of no. The refuse everything, just to hold stuff up. They don't propose their own solutions, they just say no.
And we don't have to freeze spending, just prioritize it. We're spending billions of dollars a year on Iraq and Afghanistan. We could begin a gradual withdrawal.

No. Just no. And did you not see my comment about THE LEGISLATURE passing bills?!

He's been pushing this bill ever since him and Clinton had that "secret meeting" behind closed doors
What is and where did you hear about this "secret meeting behind closed doors"? I'd like to point out that she is in fact on his *censored.3.0*ing cabinet.

The only other real law he's passed is the Abortion Law
What? You made that up. "The Abortion Law" is not a real thing. The other major laws that congress has passed, during his term, and recently, have been credit card and student loan reform. Next up is bank reform.

And yes, the people that wrote the bill read it, but not many others read it. More than half of America voted to not have this bill, and not just on Fox mind you. So Pear, that is a lie. People did not favor it.
You can cite opinion polls all day and not actually add any clarity to the issue, but I will point this out: the most objective ones showed support for the reform.

Bush was okay his first four, most will agree with me on that, but he went downhill his second term.
Bush was only "okay" during his first term because it was branded downright unpatriotic to question a wartime president.

And I agree with Jeremy in the fact that even before Obama, the nation was going down the tubes. Nixon, Clinton, etc., all turned this country the wrong way. I think that the founding fathers are turning in their graves right now because of the way this nation is right now.
Oh God, I literally do not understand the unconditional worship the founding fathers receive. It would make sense if it was at least consistent. But, the second something is cited that goes against their ideology, it's either isolated or just plain wrong. The founding father were Enlightenment thinkers, good at some things, bad at others. When they were busy founding this country or whatever, they had no clue what germs were. They weren't *censored.3.0*ing clairvoyant, the 21st century world was pretty hard to predict.

It's true that Obama hasn't done anything to increase our debt (except vote for the first bailout, which I thoroughly disagree with.) But spending irresponsibly won't clear our debt, sure. But the healthcare reform bill is not irresponsible. It includes a tax provision and heavier regulation of insurance companies to pay for it.

They say it takes the president's first term to actually see what that president has done to change the US. I'm not saying anything that's been done is good so far, but a lot of stuff that has begun being implemented to save expenses in the US has actually worked rather well. I've noticed that it's much easier now to get a job than it used to be, less layoffs, and the economy is doing a lot better than it was under the Bush administration.

At least he actually cares about LGBT people, as he's passed a few laws that benefit them. We're still far from having the same equality that straight individuals have, but at least we finally have a president who's doing something about it. It's about damn time. Also, check my link on Facebook.

Whether or not that means anything, I don't know. But it's about damn time that happens. Proposition 8 is currently being challenged in a federal court, too. Look for the Perry v. Schwarzenegger case.

A part of me kinda hopes that they don't repeal DADT, just because it means that I have an excuse not to participate in a war if there's ever a draft. =p But I understand that there are gays out there who do want to serve in the military, and they should be allowed to do so and be open about their sexuality. So I guess I'm all for the repeal, even if it means I'll have an equal chance of being drafted if it is... But that's when I'll move out of the country! =P

umm he just passed billthat is costing us trillions of dollars, so yea he has put ure in debt, and we owe it to china, now china is moving in and going to start takin land because we cant pay them back, i no this for a fact because a bunch of land in northern montana was just sold by the govt to them, and yes OBAMA passing a bill against the publics choise is UNCONSTITUIONAL, and Nancy Polsi even said on national tv that she didnt read the bill, neither did obama, and they cheated their way through when passing the bill, they skiped part of the process when they jumped from the house of reps straight to obama, they skipped the senate, and either way the bill is S**T, the govt is telling us what healthcare we can have, the four fathers intended on the Govt to be the servent of the people, no the d**m dictator, you can think what you want but id rather keep my freedoms and stay away from socialism, i would like to make my own choises, and just to throw this out there, obama hasnt even shown proof he was born in America.... he lies, and changes what he says all the time, he seems to have no idea on what he is doing, yes i will admit that bush wasnt the best but he was better then what we have now. Oh and have fun on the east coast when north korea htis you with their long range missils that they are "testing", yea obama just turned his head when they told the world that they were doing that, and on Christmas when that guy tried to bomb that plane..once again he turned his head, but when hati was hit with that earthquake he jumpped into action, and when africa needed help he sure as hell went there, i think he should be more worried about our country then any others, and yes cause i no this will come up i beleive the soldiers in iraq should either come home, or do what they were sent there to do...wipe it clean..there are no innocent over there for gods sake there are 10 year old kids killing our soldiers. there is no way that anything over there will ever change i no its cold hearted and you can say what you want about me but thats how i feel about it..... and by the way i am 18

i never understood DADT

by that, i mean i don't understand the people who support it because they don't like homosexuals/etc

if you really hated them, wouldn't you want them getting shot at?

@Sheldon

what state do you live in?

Speaking of DADT, Barry Goldwater was opposed to it, saying "as long as you can shoot straight". He was the leader of the American conservative movement. And now look at the "conservatives" today... irony.

wow.. you wont even serve your country, the country that give you your freedom..
Government's don't give freedom. It's a part of human nature and/or granted to us from God.
