Mainly small differences. Picture the jump from Ruby/Sapphire to Emerald. Kind of like that.

lol I just had a thought! (from seeing that people actually nicname, I never do)
Someone should catch a Ponyta and name it Eohippus, so when it evolves it will say, "Eohippus is evolving!"
