I decided that I do not want any grass in my town. The reason behind that is that I am going for an alien planet theme and I think the barren dirt would look perfect for an alien setting! Anybody is welcome to come on over and run all over my town! You can play tag, dig holes, and catch bugs! Whoever is interested let me know and I will add you right now. :)

RULES!

1.) Please do NOT pick up any items OR fossils!
2.) Do NOT chop down any trees or dig up any saplings!

Logically, but I have no evidence to substantiate it, but I don't think visitors wear the grass.

If grass wear works similar (I know its not exactly the same) as in accf, then its the multiple loads of the game & then stepping (walk or run) on the grass that causes the wear.
Grass grew once at the start of the day but would wear down with each load of the game.

Players got a lot of grass wear over wifi, not because of the visitors, but due to the saving and reloading of the game - and its you as the owner of the town that causes the wear.

Logical, as the feature was supposed to enable you to make natural paths, so it wouldn't do for visitors to start forming paths (or the animal villagers for that matter).

Edit: So Playing over wifi will work, but so will any multiple loads of the game during an ingame day.
