Hey guys, I know theres a lot of Civ fans on this forum, and I have all the game from 3 - 5. I want to give them some more time but they seem to have a huge learning curve, at least to me. Yes, I like these kinds of games, as I play nearly everything, but some of it is a little difficult for me to grasp and figure out. The game presents a LOT of information to you at the start, and I feel like it's a bit overwhelming.

What I'm looking for are some tips, or perhaps someone to play a game with me and guide me through the basics and perhaps some intermediate tips/strategy for the game.

Cheers!

You've at least play through the tutorial for V right? That ultimately covered the bases for me outside of the expansions which have actually thrown me for a bit of a loop.

I was like a grand master of Civ IV but I couldn't get into Civ V at all... But it seems easier than any previous game. The best general advice to act on is to plan out a goal and stick to it no matter what, and always pick a leader that benefits that specific goal. Doing "whatever the hell you want and act as you go" will work on the lowest difficulty and that's pretty much it.
I'm sure this is a useless tip but for a total beginner it's something at least.
Also, never wipe out city states, that too.

Well if you can't be their ally, take the cities ;)

The problem with that is other civs/city-states are less trusting of you based on those kinds of actions. Then again if they get so bad you can find allies to help you "handle" them so it isn't really seen as a bad thing.

I'd love to play with you and I could give you a bit of help even though I'm not that good.
