Cicada shell?

Can you really find this all year long? It's really unclear from guides online. Some say it's all year round, and others say its a summer thing.. Any concrete evidence?

I don't hear any cicadas yet, and you can't help but hear them when they are around. AC wiki says July and August, but that isn't concrete evidence, I guess. Sorry!

Do the cicada shells make noises too?? I assumed they'd be silent since they are just shells..

So they only show up in the summer when there are cicadas, you mean? Or do you mean they still have the sound effect because you can't have cicada shells without cicadas? Because if it's the latter, I just mean the shells themselves don't make a sound, so you shouldn't be able to hear them..

Shells definitely don't make a sound. Realistically, you can't have shells without cicadas, so I assume they appear at the same time of year that cicadas do.

That would be the logical thing I just got confused with some guides saying they're available all year round since I haven't seen a single one. I've never played the summer season, so I'm assuming all the bugs I'm missing are from that season.
