Changing villagers' wallpapers and carpet

Hi all,

Just a quick question; is there any way you can change the villagers' default carpet and wallpapers? I recently found out you can change their umbrellas and if course I knew about the clothing, but the carpet and wallpaper is something I've had no luck with. Is there a way, or am I just a dreamer?

Gotta wonder. Lost track of how many times I mailed wallpaper to Kidd. OTOH, I rarely keep the floors and walls that my varmints send to me, so ramshackle or regal is in the eye of the beholder.
