changing catchphrases?

i made a lot of dumb catchphrase and i wanna change them soo bad but they never ping me for it, is it just completely random or could i do smth for them to ping me abt it??

I'm not entirely sure because I've never done it before but I believe it you talk to Isabelle at the counter about a problematic villager you can reset their phrases to their defaults?

Yeah, I think it's random. If you want to change temporarily, you could report them to Isabelle (choose Problematic Citizens) and their catchphrases will change to "uh-huh"
