Hello,

I'm looking to buy AC: New Horizons, but I have a few questions/concerns that I can't really find the answers to. How much "demand" does the game put on you to play every day or at least regularly? I'm someone that doesn't play that much, and from time to time I stop playing for weeks, maybe even months. How will this effect my experience with this game? Will I be able to enjoy playing when I like to play, or will I feel the pressure to login just to now screw up what I have already achived?

Thanks in advance, and hope to join you guys soon!

You can play at your own pace. Progress will be a little slower, and there'll be more weeds, but you won't screw anything up. The game was designed with both hardcore and casual players in mind, so you'll be fine.

For me, I feel that the game doesn't pressure the players at all into playing every single day. There's no penalty for not playing regularly, apart from weeds growing which can be easily removed.

There's absolutely no demand for you at all to play it every single day, you can pick the game back up after several months and not feel like you have lost any progress or have to re-learn the mechanics of the game. The only stuff you might miss out on are the real-time events, but you'll still have the next year to look forward to if you do miss any of them.

Can't wait for you to join us; I'm sure you'll love the game :)

There isnt too much demand. Your overall progress will depend on the overall time you put into the game.

Is this you first AC game?

Thanks for the response!

@JKDOS , I have tried it on like the GameCube, but that's ages ago, so would answer yes..

Sound nice, I understand that the progress Will be slower, thats expected, my fear was just to spend to much time on getting back to where I left off when I play a few weeks later.

We don't really know how the game is affected yet if you stopped playing for weeks. Likely a villager will ask or has already moved out, but I think some people have reported that they won't move out unless you agree to it. Only weeks will grow for sure right now iirc.

The thing is though, you'll progress and get the most out of the game by playing a little bit each day. It's not really the type of game where you can grind for a day and then come back weeks later. You won't be punished for it, but you miss out on a lot of daily progress and rewards.

If you want a game where you can just relax and have fun at the end of the day, Animal Crossing really isn't the wrong answer here. You're just not getting the most out of it by casual (as in weekly) gameplay. And that's fine, you don't have to get the most out of it. You will still be able to enjoy the scenery and company, and be able to decorate your home and just fish and catch bugs. You won't play it wrong by not grinding resources, but you should also know that the first week of the game is completely in tutorial mode and that you have to follow a quest first.

No, villagers don't move out before asking anymore, so really the only thing that would happen is that progress would be slower and there would be more weeds. And you might miss out on seasonal events, but how much that matters is up to you. I didn't care about events at all in NL and I still had a blast.
