I have watched a ton of tutorials on it, but I just can't. Seriously, almost everyone I know can, including my entire family.

So, can you roll your "R"s? Any tips for someone who can't?

You poor thing.

Try to pronounce the 'r' like you would in the word "drive". The position of your tongue after the 'd' sound should get you where you're supposed to be. I wish I could be more helpful, but- it came naturally to me from having to do it all the time.

Are you learning a new language?

Actually, no. Filipino is my "mother" language, and I barely know how to speak it actually. I'm just so much more used to speaking English. I'm trying to learn more and speak more Filipino, and since Filipino is quite related to Spanish, I think it would help to know how to roll Rs.
Also, thank you for the tip.

You'll get it!

Keep trying to speak Filipino even if you can't get it right away- it'll most likely come with practice.

...I don't speak anything close to Filipino, but a lot of people have trouble adapting to making "new" sounds, so you're not alone in that.

Thanks! Practice does make perfect. I hope I get it eventually.

yeah i can, it makes my spanish & russian sound sexy and native ;D plus i do my fake "purr" to cats

apparently you can learn how, like contantly saying the word "butter"

i just press my tongue on the roof of my mouth behind my front teeth slightly constrict the tongue muscle and um...blow? i guess idk how to explain

Oh wait. I thought you implied the Spanish "R", because I can't roll this one xD
(Hence why I voted no)

I can roll my R's but I know a lot of people that can't.
My Spanish teacher used to tell us to exaggerate rolling our R's as much as we could. After a while, a couple of people were able to get it.
It might be one of those kinds of things that not everyone can do (like whistling or snapping).

^ yeah i cannot whistle...like...at all o_o no idea how people do it. so dont feel bad OP!

You have to practice a lot. I didn't know how to whistle 5 years ago, and I kept on trying and one day it worked. I didn't how to snap my fingers either, but then I practiced a lot and it works perfectly now!

You're exactly like me! I'm a fully-bred Filipino but I can't speak it.
Well apart from Kumusta and Mabuhay and all that generic stuff.
I'd suggest listening/watching telesyeres (is that how they spell it? <sigh>) and the radio. You'll find the more you listen and watch them without subtitles the quicker you'll learn it.
I can pick up the context of a scene in Be Careful with My Heart (best show by far) just by knowing a few words in a sentence quite easily. It helps if you have Filipino stuff on in the background as well, at least once a day.
If you have any friends who speak Spanish or Filipino fluently, listen to them speak it. It helps! :)

I can't be the only one who thought this was about rolling tongues

Haha, nope. I literally just can't even do it even if I tried.

when i was younger i couldnt but as i grew older and wanted to roll my R's it just sorta came to me. you've just gotta position your tongue correctly and blow air idk how to explain??
