Can you have perfect foreign fruit trees?

This feels somewhat dumb to ask since I?ve been playing for years but I?ve never really came across this. In my town I was sent a perfect orange by mail, my towns native fruit is pears so I wanted to have a new fruit in my town, so I buried the perfect orange. When the tree fully grew it was only regular oranges.. So I?m assuming you can?t bury foreign perfect fruit? I thought I heard it somewhere I just never seen proof of it.

Unfortunately, only native perfect fruits can grow into perfect trees. Anything else will turn to their normal fruit trees.

You can display them, but you can only grow your towns perfect native fruit.

Unfortunately, only the native fruit that you start with in your town can be perfect. All other fruit will turn into regular fruit when you plant them. Hopefully in the next game they will allow us to plant all of them, providing there are still in the game.
