can villagers permanently wear crowns???

i gave my beau 1 crown just recently and i've only seen him wear it twice :'D
will a second one make him wear it more often?
i don't want to purchase 20 crowns going to waste xD

i could be wrong, but i think depending on if it fits their style or if friendship level is high enough, they'll wear what you give them c: probably not everyday, but as long as its still in their inventory then they'll continue to wear it occasionally.

I have noticed that if a villager is a bit more neutral on a piece of clothing, they'll display it in their house and then not wear it. However, you get the clothes replaced with a piece of furniture, then they'll wear it a little more.

For example, I have Coco funny glasses. She displayed it in her house after wearing it after I gave it to her. I gave her a plant, which replaced the glasses and made her put them on more frequently.

Same with Phoebe. I have her a bulldog jacket. She displayed it. I gave her a plant and now she wears the jacket more. I guess because it takes it out of the house as a piece of furniture and puts it back into their wardrobe.

Maple wears her crown very often. I was quite shocked seeing her wear one the first time. Not sure if her previous owner gave it to her since she doesn't display it in her home.

I've found villagers wear gifted hats/ribbons/etc less frequently than gifted clothing. As others have mentioned, they are more likely to wear it if it fits their style/color preferences, but even then, it is only occasional compared to clothing.

I did have a snooty villager who seemed to wear hats more often than other villagers but her hobby was fashion. I'm not sure if that factored in or if it was just a coincidence.

It seems to be rather random. But, just to be clear- some people seem to think if they display clothing in their home, they never wear it. I can confirm this is 100% not true at all. They absolutely CAN wear it. If they like it, chances are they will eventually (IIRC, they can wear it and display it at the same time... IDK how). I have Ursala a few hats and she would definitely wear them. I also gave Julia an elegant hat and she wears it a lot. They don't tend to wear headgear as often as shirts/dresses (after all, they ALWAYS wear a shirt or dress, so I think the chances of them wearing one you gave them is just higher), but they will if you give them something they like.

But, if they don't like it? I honestly don't know. I've never given a villager an item they don't like (I use a guide and only give them stuff they'll love).

Yeah agree with @Serabee that just bc they display it doesn’t mean they don’t wear it! I give clothes to Fang & Raymond but rarely any furniture so they tend to display the clothes. But they wear the ones they’ve displayed time to time!

my villagers also rarely wear hats so I agree that it’s mostly random and gifting more won’t make them wear it often! you just have to hope they wear it more o:

this is very helpful! i should definitely try gifting them a plant. it's the regular plant "furniture" right? specifically which plant did you gift them if i may know? <3

I've given villagers outfits I know, for a fact, they love. They still display them. And they still wear them. I don't think it actually makes a difference if they display them or not. Clothing can absolutely be used as furniture AND still be in their wardrobe.

I don’t Think villagers wear anything permanently. Mines always wear what I give them and then they switch to their regular clothing, and then after a while go back to what I have gifted them.

awww thats really cute how the crown is placed beside his bed :'D do you think its possible for every villager to wear the crown occasionally? or would their 'style and colour' still be such a limitation to a crown JDJJJD T^T

I gave a crown to Diva early in the game, but she never ever wears it. Perhaps my friendship level wasn't high enough back then for her to want to wear it often, and I wonder if I gave one to her now that we are "best friends" (she gave me her pic) if she would wear it.

I also gave a tiara to Judy which she wears all the time and its really cute!!!

thanks this is very helpful, my villagers wear the hats i give them once, then never again, so definitely want to attempt this then to see if i can finally get them to wear them
