Can I Get Lopez Back Without Buying Him?

I am hoping that this doesn't get moved, but this is a legitimate question. I had Lopez in my lovely little town of Riverend. I was traveling around like an idiot for some reason that I have now completely forgot. (I see why some people are so against it. Needless to say, I am going to try and be a little more careful. I also lost Lucky this way, but that's for another thread.)

Anyway! I see Lopez in my shopping district EVERYDAY, and it is killing me. I want him back. Is there anyway to convince him to move back in from talking to him in the shopping district, or will he eventually come camping along? I really don't want to have to buy him back, but it would be nice if he did come back. (Also, if it does work, will it work for multiple villagers?)

You have to cycle 16 before you can get him back. From there, you can buy him, hope he moves back in, or get him from the campsite. He won't ask to move back from the shops.

So it looks like I have a lot of waiting to do then, huh? I really want him back, but like I mentioned before he isn't a necessity. Thank you again!
