Hey, guys, I'm new here!

I've been trying to get all of my dreamies recently and I thought I would be able to do this by using my brother's copy of the game (deleting his town, creating a new one so I could transfer the villagers, etc.) but then I discovered that you couldn't move out any villagers until you got your development permit.

So is the campsite reset method worth it? And if so, are there any consequences, like the villagers I want moving out? I have 8 right now by the way.

Hello!

I think the having a second town/3DS with a campsite to get your dreamies is a great idea. It's how I got all of my dreamies in my current town (I used my sister's 3DS xD).
There's a method that I use to cycle villagers out of a town I'm using JUST to cycle villagers, but I would not recommend it for your main town. The details for this method can be found here: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?152911-Foolproof-Cycling-Method

The reason I would not recommend doing that to get villagers out of your main town is that you have NO control over who moves, and unless you have the Beautiful Town Ordinance, you will end up with lots of weeds. However, if you just intend to use your brother's game to cycle villagers, it's a good way to do so, as- if done correctly- you can get a new villager every five or so minutes.

That being said, getting villagers you don't want out of your main town will be a little more time consuming. But, if you get a villager you want in your cycling town in boxes and ready to move, if you can keep resetting the time so the day doesn't change and the villager stays in boxes until you're ready to snag them for your main town, then you'll be good to go.

I hope that wasn't all confusing!

And... i just realized you asked specifically about the campsite reset method. I can't read, apparently.
I don't like the campsite much, because I feel like it's so rare villagers ever show up in mine. i'm not familiar with the reset method for that, though. I built one in my cycling town while doing the other method, and it helped me to get some dreamies that showed up, but otherwise, I'm not much help there. I'm sorry :(

All right, thank you! I guess I'll go ahead and go through with using my brother's copy as a cycling game, then. Do you have an estimate on how long it took for you to get your dreamies? I currently have 5 of mine and I'm trying to get 5 more.

i wouldn't recommend using the campsite reset trick, as it just takes forevER ;;
cycling is a great way to get your dreamies if you've got time and an extra cartridge! for my first town, I got all my dreamies in less than a month through cycling on my other cart. I worked a lot and still do, so if you have more free time you could probably get yours in less than that. good luck! :-)

Thanks for the feedback! How'd you get people to move out to make room for new villagers?

theres lots of different methods to get villagers to move, but I've had the most success with one in particular. keep in mind though, TT'ing always poses the risk of losing dreamies, so make sure you're careful and confident in your TT abilities!
-TT one day at a time until you get a ping from any villager about them wanting to move. make sure you talk to everyone every day until you find a ping. when you do, pay attention to what day they say they're leaving. if you want to keep them, tell them to stay and then TT to the day they were due to move. this will trigger someone new to ping :-)
I haven't had 110% success with that one, but I've had better luck with that one than any other. I can't stress enough about being careful, though. make sure you constantly stay on speaking terms with everyone and keep an ear out for rumors of a mover as well as pings, that way you don't lose anyone by accident.

Not long at all, maybe a week or two? It just depends on how much time you have to do it. I got at least one of them from the forums here, too. You'll have to get the development permit first, then have 9 villagers, and then TT until one of them pings you to move. I also built the campsite and checked it each time I loaded the game up, and if a villager I wanted was there I'd convince them to move in. So the next time I TT'd to a day where a villager was moving and a new one was moved in, the new one would be that campsite villager (got at least 2 dreamies from that).

If it ends up becoming too much work (which it can) I'd also recommend watching the Villager Trading Plaza. A lot of people are willing to give villagers for free!
