Bush won't regrow?

i dug up a bush to replace it with another one and now whenever i try to plant one it dies... why is this happening? i did build a pwp there recently and there wasn't one before, but it's still a tile away so it shouldn't really affect it?
i dunno it's just annoying that i can't grow a bush there any more...

Demolish the PWP, then try replanting the bush. The game has certain limits on impassable space (though I couldn't tell you the specifics)

How many bushes do you have in a row? If you surpass 12, the next one will die if there's not a space between them.

that wasn't the problem, it was in a line of 12.

it's probably the pwp, it's just annoying having to demolish it again after i just built it. oh well.

I took down an orchard once, just to move it ONE space over. And planted the SAME amount of trees, the same everything, except ONE space over. One of the trees wouldn't grow. So I chopped them all back and moved them back to the original spot. And still, one of the trees wouldn't grow. It was so frustrating and stupid. I had to rethink my whole idea.

And still, chopped them all down a 3rd time and moved them over again, so at least it would be where I really wanted them, but I don't get why the game does this. That one tree would never grow there, even though it had the first time around. :'c

I think it has to be 2 spaces away from a pwp.

I feel your pain. When I was planting my cedar forest I had the entire thing plotted out EXACTLY where all the trees would go. There were no more than 11 touching at any time, and they were all at least 1 plot away from any obstructions. There was one tree that just WOULDN'T GROW in this one particular spot. For no reason. It threw off the entire symmetry after I had to adjust everything ~.~

^ sometimes if things like trees or bushes are sandwiched between other trees/bushes, the middle one will not grow. you can stop this by planting stuff a day at a time.

The thing is is that. If it's in the middle, and surrounded my others it won't grow.

You have to grow orchards, large sets of bushes in a left to right motion.

Like a sweep. There's a live journal entry on this.

I tested this out as well. If I tried to grow a tree where the o is it wouldn't work.
Assume that there's 1 space on all sides.

Though if I did it this way all o's will grow.

There has to be a space in between the PWP and the bush, you can't plant a bush right up against a PWP same thing with houses. Also you have to make sure you don't have a chain of bushes longer than 12 or 13 I think. Trees count for that chain as well. So if you have trees touching bushes they count as bushes in the chain in that instance.

yellow: a bush i dug up so the red square could regrow

why won't it grow back there? should i get rid of the peach tree?

Is that area in your current dream code? Not as it is right now ofc but you know what I mean.

According to this theory, which has always worked when I've helped friends landscape, your existing hedge is smothering it. I suggest digging up the bush above or below the red square then planting one in the red. If it grows, you'll know you have to replant the whole row either north or south of that spot.

pretty sure it's because of what most of us have said. if you planted the red after you dug up the yellow and it still didn't grow, you'll have to do what we suggested. it won't grow because it's in the middle sandwiched between other bushes. based upon my experience, it'll only regrow if you dig up the others (i suggested the top bushes, not the entire bush line) and plant a few at a time. there's plenty of space between where the pwp was and the bushes, so i don't think that was the problem.

I think theres some weird thing about replanting in the exact same spot on the same day? I had a line of lemon trees between my mayors house and the campsite (poor placement that I'm trying to minimize because I really don't want to reset). I chopped them down and dug them up to put cedar trees in the exact spots. They all died the next day Nothing changed at all except the lemon trees were chopped

did you plant your cedar trees in the southern part of your town? they only grow in the northern part (and maybe the very top of the southern half, but that's dependent on the town).

Really I had just started landscaping and didn't know that. This makes me sad the cedar trees are so much nicer than the regular trees.

I'm gonna have to :/ I'm thinking I want to plant some apples for the fall. Although I have pears they're kind of bland -.-
