Can you plant bushes directly next to your plaza?

I'm gonna try it out anyway with a test bush, a lot of websites say that it works, and I'm really hoping it does, for my landscaping >.<

Yes, you can. You can also plant bamboo and trees next to the plaza (and also next to the stone around Re-tail/train station). That's what I've done. :3

I'm thinking about going for a pretty forest theme in my next town, since my current town is really pink and cute o_e

Yep, as others have said you can plant bushes right next to the stone tiles of your plaza! I'm pretty sure you can plant them right next to the stone tiles by your train station as well

I've done it in my town with my plaza. Just make sure you follow the 13 chain rule. I left a space between each of mine so I never ran into that problem.
